Brandon Zarzyczny (bigz7337) I'm going to nominate one book from my favorites list, and one book from my to-read list. From my favorites is Whitefire Crossing by Courtney Schafer The Whitefire Crossing (Shattered Sigil, #1) by Courtney Schafer Not only is this an absolutely amazing book, the ebook is currently free in an attempt (I assume) to boost sales on the sequel released this month (which I'm currently reading). This one is available in paperback and ebook.

From my to-read list is Scriber by Ben S. Dobson Scriber by Ben S. Dobson This is an indie book that sounds really interesting and has a lot of good reviews, it's in ebook and paperback format, but I'm not sure if it's available in other countries.

Todd | 36 comments I nominate Songs of the Earth by I've heard it's quite good. Elspeth Cooper

message 54: by Jeremiah (new)

Jeremiah (jeremiahaldan) Scriber was great, I'd read it again if the group wants to.

message 55: by Kim (last edited Oct 09, 2012 07:26PM) (new)

Kim Brandon - Thanks for the heads-up on the free download :)
I'll second Whitefire Crossing, sounds like a good read!

message 56: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Zarzyczny (bigz7337) I'll second Songs of the Earth, that's another book at the top of my to-read list.

Also, you're welcome for the heads up, and thanks for the seconds. :)

message 57: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments I'll nominate The Bards of Bone Plain. I've been wanting to read another McKillip.

Hm, the head mod said earlier in this thread that: "You can nominate and/or second more than one book."

However, Shadow of Night is the second book of a series and the first doesn't look like it's been featured in this group.

message 61: by Lilyan (new)

Lilyan Wow, it has been a year! My first nom in this book club was Dec. last year. Happy anniversary to me.

I'd like to nominate The Gunslinger I looked through the shelf and did not find it, which was odd, but Im fairly sure it hasnt been read.

Bev, I did not mean to offend you.
I just don't think those odd limitations are a good idea. I keep thinking that if I can get it in a non-English-market, surely it has to be so much easier for you all.

message 66: by Martin (new)

Martin Belcher (martinbelcher) I will "third" the nomination for The Innocent Mage by Karen Miller

I got told last time to shout up if the book was not available. I do so and get moaned at. Just because you can get it in a European country does not mean I can here in the UK. It states that it has to be in several formats which to me is ebook, pbk, hardback or library. It is not surely easier for me to keep spending a fortune on tatty second hand copies of mass market paperbacks nor a book that I cannot get hold of. I am not being difficult.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Bev... I didn't realize how different UK kindle was....
I did a couple book look ups on the UK kindle site and had no luck finding them.
I'll try to keep this in mind....

let's hope that most of the books that finally get picked are available to you.

Definitely continue to speak up when it is not available, though. It's very hard to tell on this end.
:)

Heidi (liadantaru) I would like to recommend The Changelings by Elle Casey.

message 79: by Kyle (new)

Kyle | 18 comments I will second The Gunslinger.

Edit* oops, I see it's already been seconded, I will second The Whitefire Crossing then.

/facepalm sorry, I see that has already been seconded too... something is wrong with my eyes and brain apparently.

oh well... I'll just second them again :)
Good nomination list we have going!

Candace (cprimackqcom) Jim wrote: "I'll try this one again: Feast of Souls by C.S. Friedman"

I'll second Friedman!

Also, I see Three Hearts and Three Lions has been nominated and seconded. There are a lot of older books being nominated which I'm excited about. But please make sure they are available. I know because I recently looked for a copy of the Anderson book- it was out of print as paper and ebook. And my library didnt carry.

message 81: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 22 comments I don't know if this will be helpful or not - maybe it's just a Canadian thing - but I recently discovered the wonders of Interlibrary Loans. It's when your city's library doesn't have something, you can make a request and they will borrow it for you from another library. I recently read a book that belonged to the Vancouver public library (and I'm in Nova Scotia)!

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments No we have interlibrary loan. It's a network of libraries that will share with other member libraries. I use it a lot. For all I know the American and Canadian libraries may share systems.

message 83: by Todd (new)

Todd | 36 comments I just finished the Blinding Knife, but it is the second in the Lightbringer series so shouldn't we read The Black Prism instead. Which I have also read and enjoyed. I'm still for Songs of Earth though :P

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments Yeah, that's one of the rules, no second in a series if we haven't read the first. I don't recall us reading The Black Prism, it should be on the list if we have.

I think the group read The Black Prism last August, so it would follow the rules.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments Cool. I just didn't recall.

Another UK reader, Scriber less than £2 on kindle, Whitefire crossing looks good but not available. Where's the free ebook from?

I'll second Among Thieves, US cover much nicer than UK. Lots of interesting noms, love reading through them although I end up adding loads to my TBR

message 88: by Jesslyn (new)

Jesslyn (jesslynh) | 24 comments How about A Face Like Glass (pretty sure this one wont make it) but it is an excellent book.

Or Stormdancer

or finally
The Heir of Night

I think I remember the author saying the free kindle book on Amazon was only currently available in the US. However, both of her books are available DRM free for six bucks each (less than everywhere else) and they should be available world wide here: http://www.baenebooks.com/p-1477-the-...

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Bev wrote: "Tinker not available on kindle UK. Plus only copy is pbk and costs more than a hardback here does."

Try the baenebooks website to see if can get directly from publisher (lots of Baen published books are only available kindle and other ebook formats directly from them). In U.S. that's the only way to get for kindle (not at amazon but at http://www.baenebooks.com/c-126-tinke... for $6 price range ). I'm not sure how to check for U.K. availability but their FAQs say available worldwide so surely that means U.K. ;) — and likely you can use the same link.

I'll second Tinker.

message 94: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Oct 12, 2012 03:44AM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) I'd like to nominate another Baen published book: Sheepfarmer's Daughter
Sheepfarmer's Daughter (The Deed of Paksenarrion, #1) by Elizabeth Moon (also in an omnibus edition The Deed of Paksenarrion)

Before anyone says not available ebook, see the free library section at http://www.baenebooks.com/c-1-free-li... (just click the "download" link in righthand column entitled "more info" and don't even bother with shopping cart stufff - just select to download desired ereader format or to email to your kindle or kindle app). Whole series not free; but, this one is in ebook formats. Free due to being older classic with some newly published sequels they are drumming up business for—not because self published or unpopular.

Hi checked your link and yes in theory it does work to email this to a kindle. However it does not tell you the cost of the email transaction. So yes theoretically UK kinde customers can access this. The book itself is available to buy anyway. For me personally I have already read it and yes it is a good read.

This! This is awesome :)

And I agree with you about nominations filling up my TBR list! So many books, so little time...usually I don't even know what to vote for.
