You know what, that sounds great! I'm in!

Holly | 1184 comments I haven't started it yet. I know that it's a group read coming up in another group I'm in. I don't know when they're planning on starting it, but I might start when they do. Not sure yet, though. If all else fails, I guess I could wait.

Dustin | 797 comments Hey, Holly!

Are you familiar with the Classic Don Quixote? It's another monster of a tome, and is majorly OLD (from the 1600's, I believe, Le Mis is from the 1800's,) and it sounds AMAZING!! If you're interested, there's a group read starting around the 15th of so of January. I'll post the link and an invite. I think you might like it!

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I've been wanting to read Don Quixote for ages. I think it might have to wait until 2015 as Les Mis is the only big book I think I'll be able to manage next year!

message 155: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 797 comments Okay, sounds good, Michelle. Please feel free to check out the group. And if you decide to give DQ a go in 2014, I'm hoping to join you. BTW, it's a fairly laid-back group read, spanning three months, I think, which is about 15 pages a week.. I'll have to double check that and get back to you. Anyway, it sounds like a really fun read, and not nearly as dense as Le Mis..

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments Sounds good Dustin, I'll see how I go :)

message 158: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 797 comments Good, I'm glad! The schedule seems fairly laid back and totally doable, which will allow us to read other books in between.

message 159: by Juliana (new)

Juliana I want to read Anna Karenina, Pollyanna and Goodnight Mr Tom

message 160: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments Oh I love Pollyanna!

Holly | 1184 comments Did anyone start War and Peace yet? I forgot all about it!!! :-\

message 164: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC I've read a bit of it. It's going to be next month before I really get that deep into it.

I am almost half way through War and Peace. It takes a bit of work to get through some parts, but definitely a really good book.

Heather | 253 comments Has anyone read the scarlet letter

message 169: by [deleted user] (new)

I have. I absolutely love it. Hawthorne's an amazing author and his writing is just beautiful.

message 170: by Heather (new)

Heather | 253 comments Ok :) I have to read that this year in my English class and I ordered my own copy :)

message 171: by [deleted user] (new)

You'll like it. It's a pretty short read that you could probably do in a day if you had the time, but very moving.

message 172: by [deleted user] (new)

For those reading or planning on read War And Peace I still have the thread up for it so feel free to stop by. I also have a thread for The Picture Of Dorian Gray if anyone is interested in reading that classic with me as well.

message 173: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Still want to read The Picture Of Dorian Gray, but I have absolutely no idea when I'm going to be able to get to it.
