Holly | 1184 comments Sounds great Terri.

Are we still reading Bleak House together for a buddy read Kyle?

message 102: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Awesome. Did you finish Devil Bones already?!

message 103: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Oh okay. Well, I'll more than likely be done with it tonight. Let me know when you start it and we can discuss it then. :-)

message 104: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Oh yes.....very good!!! It's been very hard to put down.

message 105: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Great. I know you'll like it. This is the first novel that I've read by her and I'm hooked. I can't wait to read more!

message 106: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments I don't think you'll be disappointed when you do. I know you said you're a fast reader, so you might finish it in a day! Lol

Holly | 1184 comments Okay....maybe two! Lol

message 108: by Holly (new)

I'll read Sherlock Holmes with you! I've been meaning to reread that; I've read them so many times.

message 111: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Great Amanda! When would you like to start?

message 112: by Staci (new)

Staci Johnson I'm interested in the following books:
Finish Anna Karanina
The Passage
Good Omens
That's House of the Seven Gables
The Canterville Ghost
The Picture Dorian Gray
War and Peace
Tale of Two Cities
The Brothers Karamazov

message 113: by [deleted user] (new)

Staci, we've just started a buddy read for The Brothers Karamazov if you'd care to join us.

I would be interested in reading The Passage.

How far along is the buddy read?

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

We just started, so people are varying in how far along they are. Some have really just begun to get into it. I'm about 200 pages in but that's probably the farthest anyone has read so far. I'm really taking my time with it.

message 116: by Staci (new)

Staci Johnson I have the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation, will that work with the group?

message 117: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure!

message 118: by Staci (new)

Staci Johnson Where do we post comment and questions about the book?
I just finished the introduction and it definitely was an excellent hook for the book.
BTW thanks for responding to my first post.

message 119: by GeneralTHC (last edited Mar 07, 2013 10:24PM) (new)

GeneralTHC I'm sure it will. I'm reading from a mobi file I downloaded from Project Gutenberg.

message 120: by Staci (new)

Staci Johnson Hi chuck, thanks for your respone. Do we have a page set up to post comments on this buddy read?

GeneralTHC Staci wrote: "Hi chuck, thanks for your respone. Do we have a page set up to post comments on this buddy read?"

Oh, I'm sorry! I spaced out. Yeah, it's this thread: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

For some reason I thought that's where I was at. I'll be okay in a minute, lol!

message 122: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments I'd be interested in reading The Picture of Dorian Gray with you Staci.

message 123: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments I have a few buddy reads lined up, but after that I'd really like to dive into some classics. Anyone interested?

message 124: by [deleted user] (new)

I would love to read some classics with you guys. Let me know which ones you are thinking of and when the reading starts

message 125: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Great Janessa!

Some of the ones I'm thinking of reading soon are War and Peace, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oliver Twist, and The Moonstone. Interested in reading any of those?

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Either War And Peace or The Picture Of Dorian Gray. I understand that War And Peace is long and hard, but maybe if we read it together we can motivate each other to plow through it and finish it!

message 127: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments I agree totally! So, would you want to read that one first, and then The Picture of Dorian Gray? Or the other way around?

message 128: by [deleted user] (new)

I am open either way. Which one would you like to read first?

message 129: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Okay.
Hmm.....how about War and Peace? I've been wanting to read it for quite awhile. Every time I say I'm going to, something else always comes up. This time I'm determined to read it!
If it's alright with you if we read that one first, of course!

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

Of course. When would you like to start?

message 131: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Okay, great!
When would you like to start?

message 132: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments I'll leave it up to you. :-)

message 133: by [deleted user] (new)

Want to start November 9th? That should give us enough time to order the book if need be and to finish any other books we are currently reading before starting this tome:)

message 134: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments November 9th sounds good to me.

message 135: by [deleted user] (new)

Perfect looking forward to reading with you Holly:)

message 136: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Awesome. Looking forward to reading with you as well, Janessa. :-)

message 137: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC I may join in on WAR AND PEACE. I'll have to wait to like the 13th, though; I wanna download the audiobook for that monster tome.

message 138: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Great to have you aboard Chuck!

message 139: by [deleted user] (new)

Happy to have you join us in reading War And Peace Chuck! I'll have to let me know who does the narration for the book you download. I'm not a big fan of audio books myself to tell you the truth. I like to have something I can hold in my hands

I would love to read some classic novels! Let me know when you start :)

message 141: by [deleted user] (new)

Would you guys like me to start a thread on War And Peace?

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

I start a thread for the buddy read of War and Peace. Is that cool?

message 143: by Kat (new)

Kat (kat_inthehat) | 4 comments Janessa wrote: "I start a thread for the buddy read of War and Peace. Is that cool?"
I'm half way through Jane Eyre and I don't have War and Peace, but I would like to read it at some point. If you're thinking of starting soon, I'm sorry I can't join you, but at a later date maybe so? :-)

message 144: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I loved Jane Eyre - hope you're enjoying it Kat :)

Feel free to join us whenever you can. Glad to hear that you are reading Jane Eyre it is one of my favorites

I know we had originally set the start date for War and Peace on the 9th, do you what to push the date forward some so we can more people a chance to join us?

Hmmm... I've been wanting to read this. I have lot of books going, though. How far into this are you, Janessa, and how quick do you think you'll read it?

I like both a lot--I do both everyday pretty much. If I want to get through something in a hurry, which I often do, I'll stick to the text. Sometimes though I like to just kickback and listen.

message 149: by Kat (new)

Kat (kat_inthehat) | 4 comments Ooh thank you and yes, once you get your head around the slightly different language, the plot is enthralling!:-D

message 150: by [deleted user] (new)

Would you all be willing to start War And Peace the first of the year. Like a lot of you I am swamp with books, plus I have finals coming up which are causing me to become stressed out:(
