Do you ever REALLY get into a Series and then it just....Starts to Suck?

Morganville Vampires-Rachel Caine. Couldn't even make it through Carpe Corpus (The Morganville Vampires, #6) by Rachel Caine

House of Night-P.C. Cast Hunted (House of Night, #5) by P.C. CastStopped after this.

Black Dagger Brotherhood-J.R. Ward Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. WardCouldn't Finish. I know, I know. Just rehashed the Same thing

Night Huntress-Jeanine Frost One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene FrostReally? Just got stupid

I know I have more, but I'm having a brain fart. One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost

Gave up on the Charlaine Harris Stackhouse & and I could not get into to the Bloodline series.

I gave up on Dark series by Christeen Feehan, I fell asleep read #20. Good lord, how I don't know how I even made that far. I love Nalini Singh and Kresley Cole's books.

I used to love Laurell K Hamilton - Anita Blake Series ... really enjoyed them .. got to book 8 (Blue Moon) ..and i had to force my self to read them ... took me forever to get to book 12 (Incubus Dreams) didnt like any of them so i stopped there ... then i read Skin Trade... Thought it was better than the others but still bad ... but after that i completely gave up and havent even attempted to read the other ones that have come out since, and even went as far as deleteing all the ebooks i had saved and giving away the books i had lol

Crissie I'm right there with you. Her first set of books were wonderful - then they really just turned into straight porn with no good story. I do miss the Me ...more

I gave up on Anita Blake after Bullet (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #19) by Laurell K. Hamilton. I just got tired of waiting for the next in the series. I enjoyed the first 8 or 9 and had to force myself through most of the next 10.

Hunted (House of Night, #5) by P.C. Cast -- stopped after this one. Again, it didn't have enough of my interest to constantly wait for the next book.

Had to come back and edit...I also gave up on J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. I read 4 of them and they all seemed to follow the same formula, which to me was really annoying. There are actually several series that I didn't even start because I feared they were also going to be very formulated.

I stuck with Sookie Stackhouse. I read books 1-9 before I even knew that the True Blood series was based on these. I have now re-read 1-9 and read through the 12th. I haven't gotten to the last one yet because I don't want it to end.

I have given up on Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, not fussed on the direction she took. I have been known to read the next installment in a series even when I've had enough though...I can't help it, I'm not sure if it's that I'm an eternal optimist and hope the series gets better again or I just can't stand not knowing how it ends :S

- BDB > I stopped at the book with the last original "cast", lost interest after that... Was already getting tired of the rehash before that, but hung on for a while...

- Night Huntress > Was already getting bored with it halfway through, but tried to get to the end... Except the last book took forever to be released and, by the time it was finally out, I couldn't be bothered.

- Dresdren Files > I loved it for a long time, then the tone started shifting and it started to drag on and on, and I lost interested...

- Twilight > Read the first book, thought to myself "okay let's give the 2nd one a chance", started the 2nd book and couldn't finish the first chapter.

- Immortals after Dark> Nope, nope, nope, nope... couldn't even finish the book I read (granted, I started with the 2nd book by accident, but still didn't make me want to read the first book!)

- Broken Heart series > The first 2 were okay, went downhill from there. Gave up after that.

- Morgan Kingsley series > Managed to finish it with difficulty, and only coz I had bought all the books on the recommendations of a friend, else I would have given up halfway through!

- Dark Ones series > I actually started with book 3 and really liked it, so I went and bought book 1 and 2, and regretted it... Haven't bothered with the next 7...

Actually, I am at a point where I'm so tired of never-ending series that, if I see a series name and number next to the tile, I'll just scroll down and not even bother reading the synopsis... I'm that tired of long-winded series...

Sorry, I don't know how to link to books. ^^;

Everytime I start reading:Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1)- I want to hang myself.

The Fallen series.

I have given up on the Black Dagger Brotherhood. The first four books were interesting but the last few not so great, Lover Reborn destroyed the whole series for me and I will not go back.

I have also given up on Vampires in America by D.B. Reynolds. Could not finish Lucas because I just had enough of Cyn, could not stand her any longer. Lucas

Kind of stuck in the Guardian's series by Brooks. The second book has dragged for me but I will still give a try maybe.

Vampire Diaries. The Arrangement series and all related series/serials.

But I loved Frosts entire universe. I didnt understand the appeal in the first book or so, but it had enough to keep me reading. Now I love the whole thing.

Kim Harrison's The Hallows (I can't remember which book exactly was the end, I just put one of them down halfway through and couldn't bring myself to pick it back up again..)

I also read Ward's BDB until the 4th book and decided that that was enough of the same crap over and over before bailing.

And I've completely lost interest in Christene Feehan. For awhile, I would be waiting impatiently for her next book to come out (especially the Dark series) but they just don't hold my interest anymore. I started zoning out while reading the 14th one, somehow convinced myself to read 15 and crawled through most of 16 before throwing my hands up and never trying again. Her Ghostwalker series went the same way with me. I loved all 7 Drake sisters books though. I tried my best to love the Sister's of the Heart series (gotta love the Prakenskii's right?) but couldn't do that either.

I'm still loving everything from Patricia Briggs though and Nalini Singh can do no wrong.

I found it hard to get back into Anita Blake vampire series, by laurell k Hamilton, I read the first 13 books before I gave in. Also I find the house of night series dragging on a bit, I think it neds to end soon, does anybody else agree?

I gave up on Morganvile and Huntress, too. I made it as far as Lover Unleashed for JR Ward, but it was so bad I was off the series forever.

the Anita Blake series, after blue moon, I couldn't do it anymore.

The sookie Stackhouse series. I've not read the last 2. When the TV series came out the books got crap. It's like Harriss was writing for the TV show and not the books.

dark Hunter. I read the first 3 but can't get past that. sherrilyn Kenyon

Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter. I love the first 3 but the 4th is about a different set f characters to the first 3. It just doesn't make sense to me to have 3 solid novels about one couple and then have the rest about different couples.

I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting. I'm not including the ones where I read the first book and didnt want to continue. I think you have to read more than one to be considered trying to read the series.

The Stephanie Plum books, the Dark Hunter books, The real Vampire series..... and many more. However, I'm not sure which
upsets me more. When an author ends a series that I still love or when an author continues to write a series that has become crap.

I adore Bones in Halfway to the Grave and all the Night Huntress books along with the spin-offs, especially First Drop of Crimson? I did give up the series Moon Called. Read the first four and got bored :p
But my absolute all time favorite series is IAD: A Hunger Like No Other? I think Kresley Cole is a genius!

Huh, interesting thread.

Haven't read too much UF so am just getting into this genre... but I can't say that any I have read so far have turned me off.

I do kinda agree though with MissyB re Undead Mary Janice Davidson - great until book 8, then book 9 was so weird and book 10 took a differnt path that just felt wrong. Am not sure if I want to read the next one in this series... Undead and Unstable (Undead, #11) by MaryJanice Davidson however I am just so curious that I probably will carry on.

Night Huntress (and all spin offs) by Jeanine Frost I absolutely LOVED. Cant wait to get into the last one. Bound by Flames (Night Prince, #3) by Jeaniene Frost

I liked Mercy Thomson by Patricia Briggs a lot and am loving Alpha & Omega by her.

Also, so far I can see no mention of Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon by Yasmine Galenorn which I also love (but not as much as NH). Thoughts anyone?

Am looking forward to my next installment in all three of these series'.

My recent bailouts:

Ascend (Trylle, #3) by Amanda Hocking
Bailed halfway through book 3

Passion (Fallen, #3) by Lauren Kate
Skimmed through this one, never went back

Tremble (Celestra, #2) by Addison Moore
I am still amazed at the sheer volume of 5 star reviews for this. By the midway through #2, I would have rather stab myself in the eyes than read another word

Kristin Yes. But I eventually read them all. Only to find there's more in a "New" series. Ugh. No. Done. I can't stand books where I hate the main character. ...more

I gave up on Lora Leigh's breeds series after the 4th chapter of the 1st book. Lord what a mess. No plot just smut and not even good smut.

I just finished Nalini Singh's last book in the psy changeling series. I've read BDB series all books, all of Kresley Coles books, all of Jeanine Frost,s books and loved them all but Nalini's series was breathtaking. I can hardly stand to wait for the next book in the series to come out. Now I'm on the hunt for another series to fall in love with.

Anita Blake; I'm done.

Southern Vampire Series (aka Stackhouse); done.

Though I loved them so much in the beginning, part of me wants to try just one more to see if the author is having a come back to what made it great in the beginning

The Mortal Instruments - City of Lost souls: couldn't finish it

I also gave up on the Black Dagger Brotherhood books. Also quit Lynsay Sand's Argeneau series.

PC Cast - House of Night (liked it, then got annoyed and bored by it, then it got better)
Mary Janice Davidson - Undead series (good until book 8, then book 9 was so weird I haven't bothered with 10 or 11)

The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle MeadI honestly think Sydney is boring as hell. She shouldn't get book. I prefer Adrian.

The Girl in the Clockwork Collar (Steampunk Chronicles, #2) by Kady Cross Somehow I read The Girl in the Steel Corset, but this one is just boooring!

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare OK, I read the spoilers, so now it's boring. But I liked books so far, thought.

Gave up on the True Blood series, Fallen series, Nightshade series. Yeah there was a few some of them do just drag on. I don't know whether or not to carry on with the Morganville Vampire series, I didn't like Black Dawn all that much. Should I carry on?

Laurell K. Hamiltons Anita Blake series, can't do it anymore:(

Yep. I call it "jumping the series shark". I think most authors have a certain number of books planned. If their series keeps getting extended because it's popular, they probably just run out of ideas. Or get bored with the series themselves.

I haven't been able to finish Ward's latest BDB book either(with Tohr).

Moning's Iced Series. I read the Fever Series and loved it but I just couldn't do it through Dani's eyes. She would drive me insane with the way she acts.

I gave up on Alyson Noel Evermore (The Immortals, #1) by Alyson Noelafter the 2nd book,P.C. Cast after I read the 5th book
Karsten Knight Wildefire (Wildefire, #1) by Karsten Knight
C.C. Hunter after the 3rd Taken at Dusk (Shadow Falls, #3) by C.C. Hunternow she has 2 more coming out.
But I have to say I honestly loved Night Huntress,Bones is my favourite plus
Charlaine Harris Stackhouse series.
