Mockingjay
question
Could the book have a better ending?
I love the ending. It remains true to the story. Just like the survivor of the Holocaust or any other great tragedy, their lives are never going to be the same. Their lives were shaped up by the events around them.
Yes I think the book could have had a better ending. It felt very rushed for me. The ending was excellent but just left a lot to be desired for me. Mostly when it came to Peeta and Katniss. So much time had been spend in the book showing us how what happened to Peeta had affected them but then at the end they get about half a page worth of explanation on how they resolved it. That they 'grew back together' just didn't cut it for me. All through the book though there could have been more, I felt like there was a limit to the length of the book, like it had to be the same as the first two, it just felt rushed a lot of the time, not just the end (though that's definitely where it's the most noticeable).
The ending was a big let down. The first two books were so great and for me this one was lacking from the start. The end just is like oh this happened no how or why and was very disappointing to me as a reader.
The ending was AWFUL ! It could've been way better than it is. I'm very disappointing.
I cant say the same thing about Crossing fire , it was the best one of them.

The ending was nice; but I think the author could have done a better job...
omg i luved the ending
i mean the stuff right before the ending kinda made it a little sad but still

The ending was good. But i was expecting for more, like a little more of Katniss' romantic gesture for Peeta. It's good that they ended up together but I would have been more satisfied if there were more words of affirmation. I mean, from the very start, Peeta's been showing and expressing his love for Katniss while the latter was always confused and would always refuse to acknowledge her true feelings. The ending would have been the best part to let those feelings known and expressed freely.
true. i also did not enjoyed how the story ends. i dont know what i am looking for, i just know that the ending is not what i want it to be :(
I remember finishing the last book like it was yesterday. It was 2am, and I was just about to finish the series that I had devoted so much time to, I get to the epilogue reading, "huh, okay, that's cute, she'll probably explain that on the next page let me just...wait...that's the end? But there are so many questions left unanswered! No! Why, Collins, why! Why must you leave me like this!"
Yep, so that sums up how I felt like at the end

I think part of the problem may be that I, for one, didn't want to see the series end! So in that sense, any ending would be hard to handle.
It might have been interesting to hear more about their lives after the revolution. On the other hand, the author's focus was the Hunger Games and the context in which they existed. So, when she came to the end of that story, the series ended.

The ending is great, but so sad... Especially that part when they make a book and remember everyone who they lost, it makes me feel awful for hours. But awful in a good way (if that's even possible).
And I really didn't want Finnick to die, I would change that only.

Hmmm, I can't say I agree with what most of you guys are saying. I feel that Mockingjay, while it's by no means a bad book, is nonetheless hugely disappointing. Catching fire ended on such a high, with the revelation of an uprising and the "secret plan" being finally revealed. However in Mockingjay, everything just seem to go downhill. It was apparent from Catching fire that Peeta had already won Katniss's heart, even though she REFUSED to admit it. And when Peeta was tortured in the third book, she acted like it was his fault for hating her and I just felt that it was so uncalled for. I would have preferred it if her feelings of remorse towards Peeta would have been better developed. And not just remorse for her own sake, but honestly out of a love for Peeta. I just felt that Suzanne Collins kind of destroyed the beautiful arch in which she had plotted the relationship between Peeta and Katniss.
Also, Katniss just didn't seem like herself in this book. While i understand that there needs to be reality and she couldn't possibly be always so "kick-ass", I felt slightly disappointed still. Because the Katniss that we've grown to love has regressed.
And also the deaths, of the various characters, were honestly unnecessary. With so much unrest in the story already, there was no need for her to inject in those deaths to bring about greater emotional leverage. In fact, I feel that she would have attained much greater emotional control if she had allowed those characters to live.
If I were Suzanne Collins, I will definitely rewrite this last book, because the first two books were too good to be thus let down by the third. DOESN'T DO THEM JUSTICE!

I think the story ended the way it should have. To be honest, Mockingjay was my favorite book in the whole series and the only thing I didn't like about the ending was how vague it was. But other than that, I wouldn't change a single thing!
I thought the ending was great! I mean, it really brought home the reality of war and you can really feel like the war had happened, and that the future though stable, uncertain yet hopeful. It did feel hurried but if it was written any slower than it wouldn't feel like the emotions were colliding together and I probably wouldn't have felt satisfied with how it ended. If it slowed down I might have thought it was dragging on too long. I was satisfied overall though I do agree it was distinctly different to how Collins wrote the major events of the other books!
Actually I was extremely disappointed in the ending of this book. I felt like the epilogue was a throw away. You're waiting to find out who she chooses and how they'll move on. The author handles it in a very nonchalant, "oh and by the way, this happened." It was incredibly anticlimatcic, which is unlike the way the author handled so many of the other "big" moments in the story.
Myabe this is what I get for reading young adult books...I have no idea. I just know I've read more poignant ways to end an epic storyline.

I feel like this book was thrown together at the last minute...I wanted more from it.
I don't think the ending could have been better. Everything that happened was exactly as it should have been, I think. It left the reader feeling so sad, numb, disturbed, yet with the slightest bit of hope. I felt like I really had been through a war. But the way the ending was written could have been better. A little elaboration wouldn't have hurt. It definitely felt hurried. So I am satisfied with the events that occurred in the ending, but not with the way it was presented!
