Kim (kadykayf) Hi all, I'm Kim.
I think Lauren invited me to this group because of my terribly random booklist. I'll pretty much read anything, but I sort of consider that my job since I work in a library.
It's nice to meet you all. And thanks to Lauren for the invite :)

A Hehe. I think it's safe to say you achieved your goal. ;)

message 58: by Sara (new)

Sara Hi I'm in my early 30's. I read about anything. I usually avoid romance, but occasionally will grab one. I read pretty randomly. Just look at my lists. Right now I'm reading the Lion the Witch & the Wardrobe, Four to Score (Stephanie Plum Novel) & the Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan. I read health & fitness, Horror, light hearted lit, etc.

This is the 2nd group I've joined.

Welcome! I could never make it through the Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe. Maybe I should give it another try though, everything I hear about it is good and I did like the movie.

message 60: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (envyanime) | 2 comments Hello, Olivia I am 33. I have a 9yr old son. I love to read and I really enjoy just about any sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal/historical Book I can get my hands on. I enjoy non-fiction to escape the daily stress. I am a suck for a book with steam embrace and humor.. My recent find is author Michele Bardsley.. Man that woman can lay down a story... Quick wit super funny and kinda adult. On the YA side I just read Frost Arch.. that was an amazing book about mages, humans are nearly extinct and everyone is born with a magic of their own... Great read!!!

message 61: by Julie (new)

Julie Mcdaniel sealey | 4 comments HI! I'm Julie. I'm 33 married mom of a 10 yo boy. I love most types of books and usually read a couple at a time. I am disabled so I have a great deal of time to read.

Cheers! Happy Reading

Julie

message 62: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (stillyaspiemom) I'm Jennifer. I'm 29 going on the dreadful 30 in 31 days. I love to read, but I find I am a picky reader... if that makes sense. I read a wide variety of books. Some of my most loved were The Horse Whisperer, DaVinci Code, Twilight Saga, Hunger Games, Divergent, and Pillars Of The Earth. What all these books have in common, I do not know other than the fact they were recommended to me. Due to my family (husband, 7yr girl, & 3yr boy) reading is my safe place (usually in the bathtub). Given that, I have to read a very engaging book that keeps my attention and is a page turner. When I read a book, I want to think... what happens next? For instance, I had to try to read The Host like 10 times before I got through it because the first few chapters were SO boring. I HATE romance... but Loved 50 Shades of Grey... don't ask me why because it was NOT all the smut. I actually enjoyed the sequels better because they had less smut. Here I am rambling... but that's what I do.

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I'm Becca :) I'm 22 and from the UK. I enjoy reading lots of different genres of books but atm, my favourites are YA, romance and fantasy. I am a third year marketing student, so my reading time is limited right now due to assignments, essays, projects, exams etc :(

message 64: by A (new)

A Hi Becaa, I'm from the UK too! I'm in my second year of A levels, so I'm totally getting you on the limited reading time. Good luck with everything!

Thanks! Good luck to you too with your A levels :) Having so much coursework stuff sucks :(

message 66: by A (new)

A Thanks! I know right. And it's so much longer than before! But I do prefer it because you have a better chance of a good grade with it.

Hi Jennifer,
I just finished 50 Shades of Grey, and I found that I really liked it. I'm about to start Darker. So excited!!! :) Glad to find someone else who liked it, especially with all the neg. reviews out there :p

My grievance with 50 Shades is mostly structure and tone. Content wise... well, I read Laurel K Hamilton so I'm used to random pointless sex scenes. I did love the email banter -that is what saved the book from being thrown. And I do love my men damaged.

My favorite out of the whole series is the little Christmas story at the end of the last book.

message 69: by Emily Rabecca (new)

message 70: by Jess (new)

Jess | 5 comments Hey everyone. I'm 34 and have a 5 year old. I read a lot, work a lot, commute a lot... You know, a lot of everything! :) I read PNR, Horror, Sci-Fi, Urban Fantasy, Romance with a kick, Historical Romance, Erotic Romance, smut sometimes, etc, etc.... I won't have much to do with True Crime or Biographies unless I am reading them for my neighborhood book club. I read to escape. Great meeting all of you!

message 71: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (crystalnewman51) | 1 comments Hello everyone, My name is Crystal and I'm 32. I am a stay at home mom of four kids and I write reviews for different sites. My passion is reading and I am slways looking for something new to read.I want to say thank you for the invite!! I love to read just about any romance, and I like some YA. Sometimes I do read other things if it catches my eye or has good reviews.

message 72: by Gaele (new)

Gaele Thanks Lauren for the invite. Waving Let's see - I'm a reader, a reviewer, a writer, a mum of a now 25 year old daughter who is working on a project with the gov't of Canada marine services, and then hopes to set up in practice with a group of large animal veterinarians...if she doesn't go for more school. I live just north of Atlanta now, with my other half Anthony - so if you see me talking about childish outbursts of random behavior - those are all from a grown man. (Many have asked how old my son is after reading those)

At present, between my own indie reviews, I host some VBT for 5 or 6 different tour companies, and have just started with Book & Trailer Showcase as their Director of Reviews for their eMagazine. Let's see - I'm a beta reader / prelim editor, and have 5 or 6 projects going at last count with that.

I read everything BUT horror, and inspirational tends to leave me flat. I'm always looking for recommendations for books for little kids - boys and girls - 10 and under - since I have friends with children that age - and I like to share titles.

As a side note: If anyone is interested in a reviewing opportunity - please contact me. We are looking to grow the Team for the BTS eMag - and I'm always willing to "interview" new candidates.

message 73: by Badbarb (new)

Badbarb | 3 comments Hi my name is Barb some people know me as Bad Barb and I am happily single and childless. :) I am the aunt that spoils the kids then gives them back.
I am from Detroit but moved to Oklahoma City six months ago. I moved because there were no jobs back home and I got a job with ATT.
I have been doing reviews for about 10 years (?) and stopped a couple years ago because of stuff going on in my personal life.
I just recently started reviewing again and created my own review/excerpt blog and also moderate author chats at Writerspace.
I read everything but inspirationals, not a fan of historicals but will read one by a favorite author.
I recently joined Gaele's emagazine.

message 74: by Lauren (new)

GAH -- it's not mine -- the section is Gillian and Mine to run - but all credit goes to Book & Trailer showcase.... and Nikki McCarver who sent out the invite I saw to apply for the position!!

Jessica (justjessagain) | 5 comments Hiya, my name is Jessi, and I am 17 years old. I am so happy to find a group that isn't Hunger Games obsessed...or any series obsessed, for that matter. I just love to talk about books and how they inspire people and life itself. My lists of books are probably the most random, for I will go from a Lisa Mcmann one day, to a Alexandre Dumas the other. I am open to any new suggestions C:

message 81: by pinK (new)

pinK (pinkspo0n) Thanks for the invite to the group! I'm Lena, and although I do read a lot of YA books, it's nice to be in a group that's not all about them. I'll honestly read just about anything that's suggested to me except for erotica. I sleep with my kindle! The poor thing's always in use between me reading and my son using it for Angry Birds when I'm not. I'm a full time student, so since my summer ended recently, I'm not getting to read as much as I would like. I'm still open to any suggestions, but it might take a little bit for me to get to it! =)

message 82: by Shafiq (new)

Shafiq Suhaimi (I_Fight_Technology) | 1 comments Hello, I'm Shafiq. Currently a 22 years old masters student in Malaysia. The reason why I wanted to join this group is because the first book that makes me fall in love with reading is a random book that I have found in an old village community hall that I volunteered to clean up. The second reason is because there is nothing that I like more than to go in a book store and find a book that I have never heard of and find myself loving said book.

Although it is true that I have no preferred genre or series, my reading habits are not without a trend. I recently realised that most of the books that I have read are made by male authors with male protagonists with guy stuff themes. As of this post, I only read three books that are made by female authors. Sorry girls.

This trend brings me to the third reason why I must join this group, is so that I will have a motivation to read everything indiscriminately.

It is a nice to meet you (by that I meant I actually read all of the introduction posts) all.

Amelia Chai (AmeliaChai) | 1 comments Hi everyone.. I'm new here.

My name's Amelia Chai, or just call me Chai for short.
I'm an English Literature graduate, now working as a translator for a local finance/business newspaper.

I enjoy reading books written in English more so than those written in Indonesian - where I'm from. But unfortunately, English-written books are priced quite high here, so I cant really purchase as many as them or as often as I would have wanted.
