Insecure, quiet and/or lovesick narrators?

I'm writing a YA book right now and having trouble with the voice of one of my characters since she's very different from me and my high school self. Maybe you guys can help me?! :)

I am looking for YA books featuring insecure, quiet, lovesick, unconfident narrators? So many books feature really snarky, sarcastic, etc narrators, I'd like to see a book featuring a more reserved, wallflowerish type character, someone without a lot of friends maybe, no snark. Maybe she's even a little sad.

Do you have any recommendations????

Definitely The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Charlie, the narrator, is insecure and lovesick (but not annoyingly so), and definitely sad. A Ring of Endless Light and Troubling a Star by Madeleine L'Engle are a bit older, but that means that the snarky voice that's so "in" right now is absent.
