Round 1 - Group 2
I'll take a slot if nobody else wants it -- so, last minute stand in is fine with me. (If anyone else wants to participate though, I'll bow out and let them have the slot.)----
ETA:
Oops -- never mind! I just noticed this was for Round 1. I thought it was for Round 2....
There are a lot of "Sarah"'s on Goodreads that are writing (oddly enough) Is #4 me or is it a different "Sarah" in this group? Maybe call me "Webbiegrrl" to be safe? Also, if #4 is me, who/what does that mean I review? I'm sorry but I'm lost about how this is working. I'm dyslexic and reading the instructions in one discussion then finding the lists in another and then finding the registration in another and rules in yet a fourth....I'm really feeling confused. I have no clue how this is supposed to go. All I DID manage to glean, is (A) you want to reach people overnight for something? and (B) you want books requested, received, read, AND reviewed all within a 3 week time period.
I will *TRY* to be back here to read replies to this thread (assuming I can find where I posted this again) before next weekend. It is definitely possible I won't be back here before next weekend though, so if there's something I'm supposed to be doing already and I still haven't figured out what or who or where, you might want to readjust that 3-week deadline on my part. I don't see it happpening if it's taking 3 weeks just to understand the instructions. Sorry!

Hi Sarah,We hope you enjoy your Jewish holidays. As you are so very busy I'll remove you from the reviewing group for now. Just let us know when you have time free to join in.
I'll post this on your other thread too to help you find it.
Jay
Plus 2 members for Group 3!! If anyone from Groups 1 and 2 want to join Group 3 that's a possible 4 people in Group 3 already :)

It's probably easiest if you 'friend' him initially.
Yes, I did that this AM and sent him a message as well. I am waiting for his response... I was referring to the option of joining the next group. Is space allows, thanks Jay!
So, okay, if I understand correctly, I am reviewing Sandra's novel... I assume the end date is supposed to be October 13 (not September)?
Ella wrote: "Please tell how I find Laura's book to review. Sorry if I sound ignorant."Hello Ella, all the links to the people involved can be found on the registration thread. This is Laura's:

You'll need to get in touch directly to sort out the work and the transfer.

Thank you!
OK folks, I've added links for everyone on Post #1.Don't forget, you can see a list of all members if you click the Members button, or see who is registered for reviewing on the Register here! thread.

Wow, saying I cannot review a book in 3 weeks means I'm deleted from eligibility entirely? That's quite the negative reply to someone saying they're busy.
I have to say, I joined this group at nearly the exact same time I joined another brand new review group on Goodreads and the two are soooo completely different--in atmosphere, attitude, approach, overall. I'm also a member of a handful of other (longer-standing) review groups (or groups that have a standing policy of reviewing books monthly) and none of them have ever said anything like that to me or anyone else.
Let me be clear, I shall never be at a point where I have so much time free that I can read a book and write/post a review for it all within a 3 week period. As I said previously, most reviewers I know have queues that are at a minimum 3 months or more long. Mine is 3-6 mos, on average and sometimes more like 6-8 months. I rarely accept review requests and therefore, keep to my schedule precisely. I know it must seem strange to be scheduling events 3, 6 or 8 months out but I've actually got book releases scheduled out over the next 2 years so I tend to think in those terms, not the next 3 weeks.
I think you should regard me as permanently unable to meet your stringent requirements for a 3-week turnaround.
Shall I leave the group entirely in that case, Jay? Is there any other activity going on in this group? It seems to be exclusively about doing the review exchanges/round robins but there aer discussions popping up all over the place, so I'm not entirely sure if you had intended to use the group for anything other than coordinating the review exchanges.
I'll wait to leave the group until you reply to this note about the point and purpose of this group. If it is only about doing 3-week round robin review exchanges, I'll leave. If there's something else going on, please tell me.

@webbiegrrl
Dear webbiegrrl, it's fantastic that you are so busy. I'm sorry if you feel the guidelines are stringent but we are trialling our turnaround times and so far people seem to be ok with them. I'm sure you can appreciate that if we start giving people 3 months to review something it would be impossible to keep co-ordinating the rounds and keep the momentum going.
Members can choose their level of participation. They can participate in every round or in one round a year so there's no need to feel permanently excluded. Yes, the main aim of the group is to co-ordinate round robin reviews but it's also about encouraging connections so there will be all kinds of discussions that members can initiate or participate in. Those other discussions may also be occurring elsewhere on goodreads. It's about contributing.
I'm glad to hear we're not like other groups. There'd be no point if we were just duplicating what's happening elsewhere. I am still in awe of Jay's organisational skills and - best of all - the fact that we only started discussing this a few weeks ago and we are already posting reviews.
Hope that helps you decide.
Yep, this group seems to be in full-steam-ahead mode! That's good, because many books will lose momentum if they don't pile up a few reviews. My own plan is to spend an extra half-hour reading in bed each night, which I think will allow me to get through things in a reasonable amount of time. By the way, I am enjoying being introduced to a whole 'nother genre in the reading I'm doing right now!
After this round, I will have to be taken off the roster for a bit as I am starting my next novel, as well as trying to finish two short stories. Thanks.
Ella wrote: "After this round, I will have to be taken off the roster for a bit as I am starting my next novel, as well as trying to finish two short stories. I'm nearly done with your book, Ella, & will post the review as soon as I can...sorry no one else in Group 2 will be introduced to your most interesting topic, narrative style, and artwork...
K.A. wrote: "I'm nearly done with your book, Ella, & will post the review as soon as I can...sorry no one else in Group 2 will be introduced to your most interesting topic, narrative style, and artwork..."I will definitely be back. Hopefully be the end of the year. Interesting topic? ;)
I've edited the first post to give the link for Steve. He joined Group 3 and has offered to do Group 2 as well.Good luck with your writing, Ella :)

Thank you!
When you've finished your assigned bookHi everyone, I hope you've all managed to get hold of each other's books by now. You have until 13th October to complete this round. Any problems, please contact one of the mods and we'll try and sort it for you.
When you have your review ready, post it on GR and paste a link in this thread so we know you've done it. Arrange with the author which other sites it should go on too.
You don't have to wait until the end date to post a review, and you don't have to wait until the start date of the next thread to get hold of your next assignment. Round 2 thread details will go up shortly.
thanks :)
OK - here's my first review for this group - posted at the following link for Ella's "The Art of Submission":http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Hi,I'm antsy to get started reviewing in Round 1 of Group 2. It was my understanding that we were to begin September 22, but even though I've sent a message to the person whose book I will review and the person who will review my book, I've heard nothing. What's happening? Or not? Am I mistaken about the starting date?
K.A. wrote: "OK - here's my first review for this group - posted at the following link for Ella's "The Art of Submission":http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/..."
Thank you. Your opinion means a great deal and your words were kind especially considering my book was not your genre of choice. Thanks for posting on Amazon, BN, and GR.

This review is a great model for people reading outside their usual genre. I think it's outstanding for many reasons, but I won't list them. I'll let you read the review and see for yourself! :)

Oh dear, Gloria, I can quite understand your frustration. I'll try contacting them and if we can't get things kicked off very quickly for you I'll reassign placings in the group.
We have 3 options here:
- I can get them to contact you directly
- You can PM me your email address and I'll pass it on to them
- If you prefer I can act as intermediary, in which case I'll still need your email address
Let me know what you want to do.
Just got a message from Sandra. She's reading my book for review. I was in contact with Ali earlier, whose book I'm scheduled to review, but I'm wondering if she didn't realize the reading was to begin September 22. She seemed eager to get started.
I've finished Sandra's book, review to follow shortly. Thank you, Sandra, for the wonderful story that I may have otherwise been close-minded to. I'd like to get a headstart on Round 2. if I understand it correctly, i will be reading Gloria then Ali's books?
Here is a first draft of my review. Sandra, let me know if you like it and I will post it to Amazon as well.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12...
Duh! I was trying to figure out how to add the review link for the book I just finished reviewing. Sheesh! Then it occurred to me to approach it as any other book I've already read on this site. So the review is at the bottom of my list of books read. http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...
I hope you get your wish to visit Ireland, Gloria, a wish I share with you. This link goes directly to your review, which is thoughtful and well written, maintaining the high standard our members have set :)

I'll assume this went onto Amazon, Jason, as it's certainly good enough to make any author pleased to have you as a reviewer. Very well done, indeed :)
I've just come across Sandra's review of Gloria's book. Here's the GR link:http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Please, everyone, remember to post the links here so I know who's done what.
Thank you :)
Thanks, Ali, but I wish you weren't all such good writers and reviewers. This is yet another one you've tempted me to buy.Edit: sorry, Alberto, I can't afford that one. Not this month, anyway.
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...I have reviewed Laura's book. Thanks for the opportunity to read something out of my genre. I would have missed out on a great story otherwise.
Thank you, Ella. Hopefully you'll be able to get a 12 week block of time free enough to take on reviewing again at some point.Over to you now, Steve.
Round 2 details are there for those of you who want to crack on.
Here is my review of Gloria's book for Round 2. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...Ali, I believe I will be reading yours third. I will try to post all this in the right section (if I can find it). Don't know when I am going to be flooded with work, so I'm trying to stay ahead of the game.
Here is my review for KA's Stolen http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...I will add to Amazon as soon as online next.

(Edits during group formation)
Edit 15 Sep:
Blanshard (Susan) and Alberto joined yesterday so now we have a #8 and #9 :) I'd better get checking with the Group 1 members if they want those 2 slots...
Edit 16 Sep:
Jeffrey has now joined us so I'm waiting to hear from Group 1 members. They have until 22nd September to decide.
Edit 16 Sep:
Sue's had to bow out due to other stuff so we have another slot available. Ali - would you like to step in here?
Edit 16 Sep:
Ali now has slot 8. I just need to hear from the Group 1 members before we get going.
Edit 16 Sep:
Laura has just registered and no-one from G1 has claimed slot 1 so we're nearly there.
Edit 17 Sep:
Sarah is too busy right now to join in, so the group is being completed by Marie-Anne and new member Gloria. I'll message everyone later to check you're good to go and post clearer details of who reviews and time frame later.
