Gisbelle | 25787 comments Theme Reading Challenges are going to be a bit different from other challenges. We don't have to start on the same date for theme reading challenges, but we still have time limit.

If you have any themes in mind, you can post them below.

i read a part of the gunslinger by SK. but the problem is that his narration is quite confusing.

message 24: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I think this sounds fun too! I've never read a Stephen King book either, but I'd read one in October if you do, Gisbelle.

I have The Shinning prepared for the occasion :D Both book and audition. You want to read it or not? I have a few other SK's books also (I bought when there were a book sales, but never had a chance to read them yet). But the Shinning is supposed to be very scary :D

message 26: by Kassi (new)

Kassi | 41 comments My favorite is Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King or Cujo by Stephen King .

message 27: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Kassi wrote: "My favorite is Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King or Cujo by Stephen King."

Absolutely...The Shining right before Halloween. LOL Do you celebrate Halloween or a version of it where you are?

message 29: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yes. There are some parties also. But I always stay home and read horror books or watch horror movies :)

message 30: by Trisha, lives on coffee (last edited Oct 14, 2012 10:52PM) (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments I don't know really where to put this idea.
Should I save it as a Weekly reading challenge idea??

Anyway,I thought it might be fun to have a requirement where We ask everyone to:

read a book either where the setting/location is the same as your state/province/territory/etc. that you live in

or

the author is either from or currently resides in your state/province/territory/etc..

I thought it might be a fun way to learn who each of our local authors are or read a book where the setting is one we'll personally know.

message 31: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments not a bad idea, Trisha. This one is related more to geography. But it might be hard to fine books to read :)

message 32: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I love the idea!

message 33: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yes I think so. But it's too small a challenge to create a theme challenge for it since we need to read only one book. I think we can use the idea for weekly challenge :)

message 34: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Yeah! Does Trisha have her weekly reading challenge coming up?

message 35: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

message 38: by Gisbelle (last edited Oct 31, 2012 08:47AM) (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments If you guys think there are too many challenges, I recommend you not start so many at once. They are theme reading challenges, so you can start anytime.

I have posted a lot of challenges lately because I don't want to forget them :) I am very forgetful, you know :D

Hope you enjoy these challenges <3 description

message 39: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Seasons. Like 4 books per season based on events, weather that happens during that season or sayings about that certain season.
For example (will give one example per season, I can give more but it might be cluttered):
Winter: Read a book that is set in the winter, or at at place with snow (like the mountains).
Spring: Read a book about blossoming love
Summer: Read a book about a tropical island
Fall: Read a book with an orange, red or yellow cover.

message 47: by Gisbelle (new)
