SOLVED. group of teenagers in a maze [s]

I read this book in jr high (so that's a long time ago). A group of teenagers wake up and find themselves in a maze or a room of blocks or steps. They are controlled by food drops where they get a pellet of food if they press a button. The experiment continues by adding an increasing number of things they need to do in order to get the food. When they are suddenly released and find themselves on the street, a traffic light triggers them in to an intricate series of moves. Read it just the once, but I would like to see it again. Thanks!
