I have the mountains of the Ozarks to call home. But I know the type. I feel out in the middle of nowhere though. I am 2 hours from Tulsa, 3 hours from OKC and even Ft.Smith Arkansas is over 2 hours away.

I am 1.5 hours from Lincoln and 3 hours from Omaha. Other direction, I'm about 8 hours from Denver. I am only about 56 miles north of the geographical center of the continential united states. (which falls in just south of NE/KS border). lol
lol - so, the center of the states is just down the road. Kind of neat as far as landmarks go. Yeah, I would say we tie for the middle of nowhere towns though. haha

- Thanks for giving the rest of us a shot at it, I don't know about anybody else, but I don't think that is necessary. If you want to read for the page count, do it. It is just another way for us all to have fun in comparison to each other. At least that is how I have always taken it.

Debbie: It is part of the challenge to want win and be rewarded, for me. I started this challenge with the simple task of reading 5,000 before buying ONE book for myself. With the inventiveness of the challenges lately I am still having a blast, even if I hardly win =D
Quick question - for the St.Patrick's Day Challenge bonus, does an author named Ireland count (Irish in title or Irish character)? lol I just noticed that I was reading Liz Ireland and thought well, this would be the only way I could ever keep up with all you speed readers. Either way, I am almost done with it so it will either count as 297 or 594. Let me know what you think...
Jane set this one up, but as far as I'm concerned, that's close enough Debbie. :) It's in keeping with the Irish theme.

Ok, I was going it do another St. Patrick's Day, but instead I decided to go with ......2010 Ides of March Challenge
Duration: March 11 – March 25
Goal: 2628 pages
Reward: 2 new / 5 used
Bonus: (Double page count) – for anything related to the god of Mars, War or Romans
Bonus: (Triple page count) – for anything Shakespearean
The Ides of March originally was part of the Roman calendar and referred to the 15th day and the full moon (considered to be an auspicious day) they commonly had a festival and a parade to honor the god of Mars (god of war). Beware the Ides of March, became more commonly known in 1601 with William Shakespeare’s play about Julius Caesars death which had occurred in 44 BC - he was stabbed 23 times and left to die.
15 + 1601 + (44 x 23) = 2628
I think this is the only challenge left in this group that I haven't joined but I have been watching for a while and I can't resist anymore. I love Shakespeare and there are a too many left on my shelf that are still unread. What a fantastic challenge!
Great Challenge Debbie and Congratulations on winning. I have only read one book so far for the month other than a short novella or two. I have a 2 inch thick book of works Comedies by Shakespeare but havn't read any of it yet.Debbie wrote: "Bonus: (Double page count) – for anything related to the god of Mars, War or Romans"
Does this mean any war related book qualifies for the bonus? I was (maybe) going to read a WWII book for a monthly challenge. It's also on my Read your Lifetime in books challenge that I seriously need to work on. (I have one year to finish half the books remaining, that's 20, lol, and they are all the early years.)
