Last night I paid 49 cents plus shipping (from Amazon's used marketplace) for We Bought a Zoo: The Amazing True Story of a Young Family, a Broken Down Zoo, and the 200 Wild Animals That Change Their Lives Forever by Benjamin Mee after watching the movie.Went to a garage sale today, and each plastic grocery bag of books was $1. I bought 2. I got a total of 48 books, most of which were large print Harlequin romances. I did get 3 5x7 inch paperback christian romances from the Love Finds You series in the bags as part of the 48. Hard to pass up when they worked out to 4 cents a book!!

No kidding. It was worth resetting. :) The larger Love Finds You books have a $12.99 cover price and you can buy them at Walmart. I got 3 of those. The other 45 are all large print harlequins. I havn't inventoried them into GRs yet. I'm sure I may end up with a couple duplicates (I saw at least one) but bearing even that in mind... it was too good a deal to pass up. I'm not the Book Sale Queen for nothing. lol

Whoo-who! Looks like I won. I was waiting for the challenge to be over so I could sneek in a download for my kindle, before the next one started. Feels so much better to have earned the right to buy a new book. Hopefully after summer there will be more competition around here.
Give me a bit and I will come up with a new challenge.

I can't take part for at least a week. Our annual friends of the library booksale is this coming weekend and I'm sure I'll buy something. lol
I didn't participate last time, because I *knew* there were going to be ebook sales over the 4th. No point getting on the board if I was going to have to zero out at the end!
Well the books are cheap at the annual library sale. Paperbacks for 50 cents, hardbacks for $1 and magazines at 10¢/lb. And they have around 74k books sorted by genre to paw through. I'll guarantee you that I'll find something. lol
My dad loves library sales, too. Mom finally told him if he brought one more grocery sack full of books into the house she was going to dump them all on the lawn. Which may sound a little crazy and extreme, but if you'd ever seen the number of books Dad has collected from library sales over the years....
Our bag sale is sunday. Everything you can fit in a plastic or paper grocery bag for $2. Used to be $1 a few years ago and that's why I have about 6 apple boxes of 1960's antique white cover harlequins in the basement collecting dust. lol I've only inventoried about half of em so far. I had to add a shelf to my GRs shelves so I could mark them "Stored in basement boxes" so at least I had a clue where to start when looking for something. lolAccording to GRs, I have 5,883 books, not counting of course the above mentioned uninventoried books. So believe me, I know all about running outta room by having a house full of books. lol My husband hasn't complained however because they are all neatly stored on various sized bookcases all over the house. I'm at the point though that I can't bring much more in without others having to go out, so I'm going to be super selective at this year's sale. Although cheap, I can't store much. On the other hand, as a true bibliophile, I just can't skip and not go. lol I bought my $5 early bird ticket to get in friday night (it's free to the public starting Saturday). I got my parents lined up to babysit my son and I'll be sitting out on the sidewalk a few hours before the sale starts friday to wait and hold my place in line. lol (I used to do that so I'd get one of the few shopping carts available inside. And yes, I bought that many books. lol)

Technically, I'm out. I bought a book today so need to reset. Unfortunately, it wasn't a new fiction novel I'd love to read. It was purchased out of necessity. Based on the fact our pediatrician thinks my youngest has a touch of ODD, I bought the following book to learn more. At his age of 8, I don't see him gaining anything from therapy. He'd say whatever he needed to, to get it over with. Which means mommy has to get help instead.The Defiant Child: A Parent's Guide to Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Kate, IMO this shouldn't count - it's more like a medical expense.Parenting is never easy, is it?
No, it isn't easy. And I feel like I'm out of options. Medicine can help his ADHD, but it can't help this. Instead, I have to retrain myself how to parent to work around and/or with his condition. Won't be a fun book to read I'm sure. The one I had to buy and read for Attention Seeking Disorder was a real snoozer. Helped some, but they are a pain to read.Thanks BJ.
