Ahhh, so it might be a case of this book having some of your pet peeves? Still it's good to know. I don't like game playing either. Unless it's the fun flirty kind but the manipulative controlling mind games, no.

However, I've been thinking I need to start at the beginning of the series. That may make me more forgiving later on.
