Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments Hello? Where is everybody? It sure has been quiet here. Dawn must be offline for some reason that she hasn't updated the spreadsheet yet.

Toni the list you made last week was really helpful. I hope you can do that again before tomorrow morning although it would certainly be easier if the spreadsheet was updated since it looks like we will have 5 more items completed.

Paris (pah13) Alright, so Open Space (1. Open Space Think Rural area, farms, countryside, fields, but it could include a large park.)

That's one I still needed. Sweet!

I'm gonna read Reflected in You (Crossfire, #2) by Sylvia Day . It takes place in New York and I did a search, she walks through Central Park!

I am also going for single female, glitter, and purple. If that helps anyone else make any decisions.

message 209: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments Open Space is a good one for our team since I was the only one that had already claimed it. I'll be reading

Die Trying (Jack Reacher, #2) by Lee Child Die Trying by Lee Child

Paris I will also go for single female, glitter and since I already have purple, I'll look for red.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) I will look at the spreadsheet but we are almost done. WAY TO GO TEAM!!!

Katherine (katdylan) Hi guys, I haven't posted my last week review, because the book I read didn't meet the required number of pages. I just noticed when I had my post half done. I'm gonna rush and read something else so we won't fall behind. Sorry Team.

I think we'll be fine. We are in the lead so far and we've got a really, really good chance of winning this thing. Hopefully you'll be able to get to find those places next couple weeks.

We're fine Dyllan so don't put too much pressure on yourself. No need to stress over this. Finish when you can and then post when you can. That perky page number rule scares me every time I pick a book.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) I am not worried if we win or lose. I think it is just fun to play the games and see what everyone else is reading. :-)

Die Trying (Jack Reacher, #2) by Lee Child Die Trying by Lee Child

Finished 10/14

Poor Jack. He just can't stay out of trouble. In this adventure it is a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. By helping a lady through a door with her dry cleaning he is inadvertantly caught up in her kidnapping. In the surveillance camera it looks like he is part of the plot. Plus this is no ordinary citizen that is being targeted, she is an FBI agent and dear old dad just happens to be someone BIG in Washington.

The adage that no good deed goes unpunished definitely holds true in this story. I give it ★★★★★ 's I think I'm in love.

Color: Purple - ...my gaze raking the other loungers and cabanas through the purple tint of my sunglasses. location 1268

Holy intenseballs Batman. This book…it left me breathless. I never thought something could be more intense than the first book in this series, but I was wrong. This book beats Bared to You in leaps and bounds. The relationship is passionate and more than a normal roller coaster ride. Gideon and Eva fight, make-up, misunderstand each other, love each other within an inch of their lives and then fight some more.

I love that we got to learn a little more about Gideon’s past in this book. Slowly, but surely he is breaking down his walls for Eva. Although at times I feel that their all-consuming love is far from reality and most likely a little unhealthy, I still can’t help but get wrapped up in it. The major drama that takes place in this book is so freaking crazy good that I want to spill the beans, but I don’t like to spoil things in my reviews, at least things that aren’t inevitable or predictable (ie: Gideon opening up more).

I honestly have no idea what Day could possibly do to her characters in the next and final book in the Crossfire series. I have a feeling it has a little bit to do with Gideon’s past, but other than that I’m baffled and extremely anxious to get my hands on Entwined With You. I need more Gideon and I need to know what the heck is going on.

This book is so refreshing!! it's not like any other vampire book with romance. There is girl likes a boy going on, but that's all and a girl is a vampire for a change. The world the author is build up is more lilke dystopya and there is a virus that makes humans monsters, plus vampire life is not that glamorous.

Katherine (katdylan) WEEK 6

ITEM: BLUE
BOOK: Angel of Darkness
AUTHOR: Cynthia Eden
LENGTH: 305 PAGES
RATING: 3 STARS
Angel of Darkness (The Fallen, #1) by Cynthia Eden

REVIEW:

I'm not much into PNR, but I couldn't help myself when I saw this series. This is my first Cynthia Eden book. There were things I liked and some I just... Ugh get it over with it. For starts this feels REAL long. I thought it was 605 instead of 305 pages only.

Keenan is a angel of death, he carries the soulf of those who dies to another plane. Nicole is one of his charges, and he must carry her soul. Only he hesitates and she lives - or dies - to become a vampire. Now he's fell from the heavens and he wants her.

At first it was weird why Keenan was after Nicole. It seemed he was angry with her because he was now a fallen, when she had nothing to do with that.
Nicole... This girl really knows how to collect enemies. I lost count of how many people wanted her dead throughout this book. I mean what's so special about her? And then when the end came I was just.... Uh... Nothing. Figures.

The story starts in New Orleans, a place I LOVE to read about. Unfortunately there weren't much details regarding the city, beyond the French Quarter, and a small mention to Katrina. Since this is New Orleans we're talking about, there are a lot of magical beings that I'd like to know more, however they're just thew in it and I had to cope to follow the storyline. And for last but not least... Love... I think somethings were just way too fast for my tastes. For this reason some stuff just makes no sense for me.

Random thoughts:

*Keenan calling Nicole, 'sweet' really bothered me. Lol.

*Nicole was suposed to be a kickass female vamp - Sometimes she just came off as stupid. IMO.

*Sam, I loved him! Can't wait for his book.

*Az, WTF was wrong with Az? I can't believe he's getting a book (I Can't also believe his cover is hotter than Keenan's)

*The Epilogue was really... nothing (view spoiler)

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Week 7: Open Space

I re-read the book Love is Fear (Valerie Dearborn, #2) by Caroline Hanson for the challenge. I loved it as much this time as I did the last time. This book was a great sequel to the first one. Val is so conflicted throughout the whole book about who she loves and I think that she doesn't really love either of them by the time they get to the end. I loved the plot line and how she writes her books amaze me. She makes the story flow and you don't notice that it is over until it is too late. I give it 5 stars this second time around also. Finished October 17th.

Katherine (katdylan) WEEK 7

ITEM: OPEN SPACE
BOOK: Baby Bling
AUTHOR: Elle James
RATING: 3 STARS
LENGHT: 224 PAGES
Baby Bling by Elle James

REVIEW:

I believe this is my first time with an Elle James work. I liked the mistery and suspense part, even though not many answers were given in the end, but being part of a series, I'm not surprised.
Ysabel is Jackson's executive assistant for the last 5 years. She knows him better than anyone, and can run his company just like him. Jackson has made himself and his fortune from the ground, and by this he put his love life on zero, only dating women who meant nothing at all to him. Right after being dumped by his fiancee, he sleeps with Ysabel -getting her pregnant- and runs off for 2 months. When he's back, Ysabel resigns and all hell breaks loose. Someone is after him and Ysabel and their lives are put on risk.

Some things bothered me, like Ysabel withholding the truth from him. She loved him snce the first time they met, and still she didn't trust him at all to tell him about the baby they did together. Toward the end all the love exchanged annoyed me, I know I'm not a romantic person, but I didn't get to see their relationship before they slept together and that's why it's hard for me to fall for all his love for her.

It was a nice read, nothing great about it, but I liked the premise about the Aggie Four, and how this goes with the series.

P.S.: Something really weird, that made me crack up any time I read, was Flint's wife name Lora Leigh. There are several passages with the whole name. Too LOL!

Katherine (katdylan) WEEK 8

ITEM: WING
BOOK: I Spy a Dark Obsession
AUTHOR: Jo Davis
RATING: 4.5 STARS
LENGHT: 288 PAGES

REVIEW
I.FREAKING.LOVE.JO.DAVIS!
This could be my review and would say it all, too bad it won't be acceptable.
This is the 3rd in the SHADO series and I freaking love Jo Davis's books, and this one is no exception.

Michael: Leader of Shado, he is after Robert Dietz, the man who used to be his second in command, but decided he would make more money selling bombs to terrorists.

Bastian: Michael's best friend, and now second in command in the agency. He's been in love with Michael for years now.

Katrina: Shado's electronic surveillance expert, she's had a thing for both Bastian and Michael, but never really acted on it.

Things has been strained between Michael and Bastian since Bastian declared his love for Michael, then Michael ran away and married his girlfriend. Now, almost two years over her death, Michael and Bastian are getting closer since Michael's brush with death. Michael somehow don't accept he may have feelings for his best friend - a MAN - He's not homophobic, (that's the feeling I got sometimes however) but he just can't find in himself to accept that maybe, he may be bissexual. In enters Katrina, throwing both Michael and Bastian for a loop, since she is attracted to both, and is finally doing something to have them. All this happens while Dietz plans on getting revenge on Michael by killing Bastian and whoever he cares about.

This book is really good. Jo Davis knows how to play the mystery part, and the bad guys are really bad. There were times however it was only sex and practically no story. I don't mind the sex, but I like the plot too. From middle to end Davis balanced plot and sex and it was a great read.
I wish I could work at SHADO Agency. LOL.
There is SEX in number of ways, m/f, m/f/f, m/f/m, M/f, m/m, f/f and an assortment of toys and shameless and eager (in a GREAT way) people just read to blow our minds. Can't wait for Jo Davis new series!

Rating: ★★★

I really liked the first couple of books in this series. The world was different and Pete and Jack were both interesting anti-heroes. While I still enjoy the world, (mostly) and Pete and Jack, I just am not as into this series as I used to be. I often feel like I’m slogging through parts of the book. I feel the desire to skip ahead, but I don’t. I just keep plugging away until I get to an ending that is usually worth it. Soul Trade was decent in the beginning and end and sloooooooow through the middle. If the book hadn’t fit into a ton of challenges for the week I would have put it down to try and read at some later date. Instead I made it through and I don’t know if I will read the next one. I’m not sure if I really care anymore which makes me sad because I had high hopes for this series.

Katherine (katdylan) WEEK 9

ITEM: Mountain/Cliff
BOOK: Game Misconduct
AUTHOR: Bianca Sommerland
RATING: 2 Stars
LENGTH: 314 PAGES

REVIEW:
I was really excited to start this series, but I was really disappointed with this book.
The Dartmouth Cobras is a Hockey Team, Oriana is the daughter of the owner, and the girlfriend of the coach. She wants normal, and Paul - the coach - seems perfect for it. But he isn't. She's friends with Max Perron, one of the team players. He's in love with her for a while now. When she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her, she decides to leavi him, however her father won't let her do it, or he will cut her off the family money. With the threat in mind, she decides blackmailing her father, so he won't cut her off, and make her stay with Paul, the Cheater.

The plan is simple. Act like a Team Bunny, and threat to release the details to the media. However, Max and his friends have other plans for her. Now what just COULD NOT go into my mind is, why SO MANY men? Blackmail is one thing, but did she had to have sex with almost all of them? Sometimes was just way too much, and not because I'm some kind of prude, I'm not. But I was lost. There were too many people feeling, talking, having sex, and WHAT THE HELL? I wanted to get rid of all of them but Mason. The rest could just go and screw themselves. Something that really annoyed me was how they treated the BDSM as some part of the team, Ugh. Privacy anyone?!

Max and Sloan called themselves "doms" but they were just NOT. Sloan claimed to have feelings at one chapter, and the next he says he's not into feelings with anyone. Max was very forgetable. Tyler was too silly. Sloan was too stupid. Mason was too intense (not so ba tho). Oriana was a walking pity party and I couldn't like her at all. And T.J. was so insignificant that all I can remember about him is that he looks like a tall batman.

Behind all the sex there, is a plot, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to care. I was already bored and annoyed. I only finished the book because it was for a challenge, otherwise I would have DNF it, and wouldn't go back to it. I wish there were more reference to the game itself. I don't know hockey and its rules, and it would have been cool if I was able to learn something from here, however there was too many technical words and no explanation behind it. I'm being nice by giving this a 2 star rating, because the plot idea was good, and there were a few good parts, however Game Misconduct really killed this series for me.

New Tricks (Andy Carpenter Series, #7) by David Rosenfelt New Tricks by David Rosenfelt
I did a combo of the audiobook and the large print edition.

Finished 10/28

Waggy is a cute puppy. But he isn't just any puppy. He is a pure bred champion. When his owner dies the fight begins over custody/ownership of Waggy because along with Waggy goes a vast estate and tons of money. Lawyer Andy Carpenter is in the wrong place at the wrong time. He just happens to be in court when the judge appts him as Waggy's legal guardian and it is up to Andy to determine who should get the dog.

There is a little bit of everything in this book. Murder, fires, explosions and a little romance.

Sometimes I felt is was a little "too cute" so I give it ★★★ 's.
