Week 3: Landmark
Book: Kellan by Kate Hoffmann
Length: 224 Pages

REVIEW:
Gelsey "GiGi" Woods is a retiring party girl who's have been just saved by our Quinn hero, Kellan. Gelsey wants to start over with her life, but her past has other plans, and try as she might, she can't keep Kellan out of it.The Good:
Kellan is drawn by Gelsey the very first time they met, and even if she isn't a real mermaid, he's hipnotyzed by her, like he's under some kind of siren call.
I love Irish books and characters. I love their language, their culture, their manner. Kate Hoffmann can always make a good book about Ireland and its people. Kellan is no exception.
The Bad:
By the end of the book I felt empty. Like the book couldn't reach to me and make me go inside it and forget about all the rest.
The Cute:
The prologue when they are kids always gets to me. That was really cute, and one of my fave parts of the whole book.
The FUgly:
I really couldn't like Gelsey. I get it she wated to change and stuff, but her past (and her present actions) shows the behaviour of a teen, not a 27 years old woman. I didn't liked her at all. She made everything looks like Kellan was some big, bad monster for asking questions. There's no future without a past. Out with Gelsey, in with me!
Fave Quote:
She tipped her face up to the sun.
"Kellan Quinn is a very good man," she shouted.
"He's a feckin' gobshite."
The voice came from the direction of Danny's smithy and Kellan shruged.
"I guess we have other opinions on the subject."

In order to count single female or single male they have to stay single the whole book.
Let me know what other person you want to claim.

I read the book

Just FYI Malibu won't count as shoreline. But I do know that Cyn lives in a beach front condo. So I will count it.

I was a latecomer to the Kate Daniels series and really to Ilona Andrews books all together, but once I jumped in, I was hooked. When I read that they were going to write a book from Andrea's perspective I was excited. I love Andrea and always wished that we could see more of her, but always figured that wasn't going to happen. Thank goodness I was wrong.
It was great to get into Andrea's past and learn more about her. Her past created her and how she interacts with the people in her life. I loved getting to see her interact with Kate, Raphael and Ascanio and the rest of the Pack. Seeing her investigate the murder of four pack members was great too. She has a slightly different style then Kate, but there is never any doubt why they are friends and co-workers. And I absolutely love her version of intimidation.
I really hope we get to see more from her point of view. And hopefully we'll get more hot scenes between her and Raphael. And more of her intimidation tactics. Hell, I'll just take more of awesome, kick ass Andrea!

Finished 9/24
While on vacation in a big old house on the coast of Cornwall, Simon and Jane and Barney Drew discover an ancient manuscript which is a key to finding long buried treasure. Trouble is that they aren't the only ones looking for it. Exciting adventure and danger follows. I give it ★★★ 's

Items:
Famous Landmark - on the cover (pyramids)
Black - on the cover
Blood - She pulled him ever closer clutching his fine baby-soft hair as he drank deeply from her blood
Celebrity - When they had arrived in Cairo the first time, the area around the pyramids had been choos-not only unbearably hot, trying to push through the crowds so they could get to the entrance, but all the while Sting was up there belting out those run-of-the-mill saggy middleaged yoga melodies.
It got over too soon :( This time the story took the characters to the underworld to fight with the dark forses and they found out there is a gate to heaven and one of the characters is the keeper and the key of the gate.

Wing --> Paris and Toni
Stairs --> Laura and Dyllan
Orange --> Toni and Dyllan
Black --> Paris and Laura

As soon as a place DOESN'T get called I will fill in the mountains/cliff slot.

That's a lot of potential points coming up for us! Let's hope that the items that get picked fall our way.

Laura, to count a color on the cover it needs to be 50% of the cover color. Black won't work for that book. Let me know if you have black inside or want to do another color.

The cover you linked wasn't 50% green. In order to claim the color on the cover it has to be the majority of the color on the cover, not just a color on the cover.
