Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Does the 'dedicated to' section count for searching items in our scavenger hunt, do you think?

Review:

I kept putting this one off cause it's my worst fear came to life! I do love this series though and I foundd I was missing the characters so I gave in and I'm glad I did!

I love Marie's writing, she always pulls me in and refuses to let go until the last page. Can't wait for the next one!

Katya Week Eight - Wing
Duncan (Vampires in America, #5) by D.B. Reynolds Duncan by D.B. Reynolds Re-read 10/25, 4.5 Stars!!!

Duncan has been one of the best characters in the Vampires in America Series. He is /or was Rafael's Lieutenant. I have always said this series is like The Godfather without the crime. It is full of power-plays, fighting, and strong romantic stories. this book is no different. Although nothing is as good as Raphael and Cyn, I really liked Emma and Duncan together. He is much more powerful than I had been led to believe in previous books and I am enjoying and will enjoy in future books the relationship between Duncan and Raphael now that he has his own territory. Duncan is very ruthless and yet so tender with Emma. He is like Raphael but a much more modern one...like Rajmund and yet not. WE also got to learn alot about his past and where he and Raphael met and how he became a vampire. Love this series!

People: Warrior (Soldier) (Pg.30) "Louis now belonged to Duncan body and soul, but before he became Vampire, he'd been a soldier, forged in the heat of battle, and he had fond memories of his days as a military man."
Places: Metro Area (Washington DC) (Pg.9) "A few miles outside Washington DC the Learjet rolled up to the darkened hangar, a pale ghost of a plane appearing out of the shadows of a moonless night."
Things: Wings (Pg.9) "Outside, an owl swooped overhead, its wings a hard flutter of sound."
Colors: Orange (Pg.232) "But there were firefighters Duncan here, too, and Emma could see the ominous orange glow of flames danced in many windows."

Katya Week Nine - Mountains/Cliff
Lucas (Vampires In America #6) by D.B. Reynolds Lucas by D.B. Reynolds

Read 10/29 5 Stars!!!

Fantastic read. One of the best in the series so far. Kathryn sometimes annoyed me but I think her attitude helped to make the pull between she and Lucas more exciting. Lucas is described by the author to be the closest to Raphael in personality and power. I agree but Lucas is more playful... The characters that the author is adding to this group of vampire lords adds color to the building power war that is coming...each a little different but colorful and individuals. I can't wait to see what this alliance produces in the future as this series culminates with something exciting. Loved it!

Place - Mountains/Cliff (Ragged Hillside)
(Pg.38) "It looped around stands of trees and grassy humps many of which had piles of jagged boulders buried on their hillsides...in the far distance, silhouetted by a pale moon, was the sharp peak of Lookout Mountain...."
Thing - Smoke
(Pg.118) "She hoped it did not use one of those wood-burning stoves, because those things smoked, and the smell was impossible to get out of her hair and clothes."
Color - Black
(Pg.11) "Lower down there were four separate photographs of the same thing, ranging from sepia to black and white, and then what she assumed to be the most recent one, which was in full color."

Since it is part of the book I will count it. If it were from preview section, or the reviews maybe not since those would vary from edition to edition. But I am sure the dedication would be the same no matter the format, so to me it is part of the book.

No, No it was just surprisingly fast. I guess because Danie was missing so much I thought you might still have more to read, and actually get a week of normal play when the item was drawn on Friday.

You did great! Hopefully you'll be able to join in next round from the begining.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Crash (Crash, #1) by Nicole Williams
Read from Oct 28-29th
4♥'s

Review:
Well... I enjoyed it. I liked Beautiful Disaster and Slammed better, but I will definitely look into reading book 2. There were times it had a almost '10 Things I Hate About You' feel to it... and I had trouble with the location (her house) vs. the school (high school). Like moving into a 'lake house' does not make me think the school is going to end up like a inner city "gang" school. But the book made me think of the HS like a ginourmous 'problem' school. I had trouble reconciling those facts. There were also other aspects of the story that seemed a little 'weak' and implausible... I wish some things caused more drama while others I felt were pushed to the back burner for far too long. It was worth the read, but I wasn't as jazzed as I expected to be.

One of my favorite quotes (and there were more than a few) "Jude Ryder wasn't only trouble, he was trouble with a side of danger and a dessert of heartache."

Mountain/Cliff (Called item, already claimed- location: Page 7) "I'd say you've got a mountain range of explaining to do."

Glitter (location 15 in Kindle/Amazon) "love and glitter cannons to you all!"

White (cover & Page 74) "... artificially white smile."

.... And Stick a Fork in Me because I'm DONE!

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) No biggie, Leslie, bad luck can't be controlled. I'll keep rooting for everyone!

message 426: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Well, at least according to Dawn, we will not have a winner called this week, so we are still in the game! My book for this week will be In Too Deep (Looking Glass Trilogy, #1; Arcane Society, #10) by Jayne Ann Krentz I found the following items: Bag (already claimed), Bar and purple.

So next week the only thing I will have left is Metropolitan area and smoke.

Turtlecollector Dennis This doesn't help me much either. I can find one of my places(bar/pub or forest), but with my luck I will pick the one that gets called next week. Next week, I will have glitter and a place to find.

Katya Week Ten - Bag
Finding the Lost (Sentinel Wars, #2) by Shannon K. Butcher Finding the Lost by Shannon K. Butcher
4.8 Stars!!!!

I love this series and thought this book was so much better than book one. The author started off the story and it never had a lull. It just went on from one interesting or exciting moment to another.

The author reveals bits of the whole story little by little and is building future story lines while telling the story of Paul, a Theronai Warrior who's life mark is becoming increasingly bare. He needs to find his female counterpart to whom he can bond and continue to live. These couples bond and fight as a symbiotic pair.

His match is Andra who is the oldest of three girls, She Andra, Nika and Tori. Her family was attacked by the Synestryn (demon) many years ago. Andra survived, her sister Nika was injured and damaged by the attack and their youngest sister was kidnapped and died. The emotional loss of her family caused Andra to train herself to become a Synestryn hunter and focus her life to finding children who were kidnapped by the Synestryn and return them to their parents.

Paul goes out looking for his mate and finds her in the middle of a battle with the Synestryn. After helping her find a child she quickly explains that her sister is dying and she needs to help her. Paul tells Andra that he knows people who can help her sister to keep her near him until he can convince her to bond with him.

So much goes on in these novels it is impossible to explain everything. They are full of detail, plots, sub plots and sub-sub plots. Just know it is a great story...warm yummy romance and full of interesting secondary characters to keep you involved and excited to read this story.

Thing Bag: Pg 334) "Paul pulled it out of a duffel bag and gave it to her. The cool weight of the doll’s porcelain head rested over her heart."
Color Red:(Pg 65) "Everything in her personal chambers was a deep, rich red—the color of fresh blood."

I am finished!!!! Yeay!!! Go team!

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) *Alana pulls out her pom poms*

Yeay, Team! Round 3, Team 3, Round 3, Team 3!

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) glitter, and a bar were both in Easy by Tammara Webber and Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark, #1) by Dave Ferraro

Turtlecollector Dennis I will have Redoubt finished today which has forest and bag in it. I can't read a glitter book since bag was the item called.

Next week I plan to read Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark, #1) by Dave Ferraro which has glitter and bar in it(my last two items).

Turtlecollector Dennis Week 10 - Bag

Redoubt (Valdemar Collegium Chronicles, #4) by Mercedes Lackey by Mercedes Lackey
Read 11/4/12 - 4 stars

I really like this author and all of her Valdemar books. This is the fourth book of this particular series and I was glad there are more. It gives more background into the main character and where he came from. I am glad this mystery will be brought out. I was afraid of never knowing since the author usually writes in three book series within this world.

Items claimed:

bag
"...boxes and bags all around him..." pg 178

forest
"...The forest was thick down here..." pg 226

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) In Too Deep (Looking Glass Trilogy, #1)(Arcane Society, #10) by Jayne Ann Krentz
Week Nine: Bag (already claimed)
In Too Deep 11/4/12 ***** stars
Bag (p.44 body bag)
Bar (p.109 behind the bar)
Purple (p.74 dress of green and purple)

I love this story about Fallon Jones and Isabella Vargas. He is such a wonderfully quirky character and he needed someone who was just as quirky. And he found her. This entry into the Arcane Society series is much more complex than some of the others and involves a complicated mix of storylines about para-normal weapons and the Nightshade organization. We've been introduced to Fallon in other books and every one thinks he's weird and slightly crazy. Isabella comes to work for him and is already steeped in conspiracy theories and so she finds him perfectly normal. There is the usual heating up of their paranormal senses whenever they are together, but JAK takes the time to develop the relationship between them a little more. Loved it

Katya All we need is:
Leslie: Metro area & Smoke
Turtle Collector: Bar & Glitter

And it means that if no one goes out this week...you need to read your book ASAP...because many other teams will be even closer than we are. Hate to put pressure on you but - Twelve weeks and it comes down to who is the quicker reader.

You also need to make sure no matter what get's picked you are ready to read something...I would have more than one book picked out that suits the bill If it were me just in case what get's picked does not fit the bill.

Good luck ladies...it is in your hands!

Are we sure that another team is not going out this week? HMMMMMMMM.........

message 437: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I will look through my books and find the ones that have metro area and smoke and be ready to go. Once the item is called I can start reading and will have it done on Friday.
And then everyone just pray that the item called is not in one of those categories because that would really SUCK!!! Kristen your two items are in the same categories as me - that's really weird. Not sure how we managed that haha!

Turtlecollector Dennis I am looking for more books as well just in case. Yes, Leslie, it would be horrible if the item called is in one of those categories.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Everyone remember to double check your points, just to make sure everything is correct. The race SO close... *crossing fingers on item called on Friday*!
