PepperP0t | 2106 comments Tempted by Blood (Sweetblood, #3) by Laurie London

Finished: 9/30
Items Claimed:
Person: (Couple) Instead she'd spent the evening trying to pry verbal information from a couple of boys who clearly were better at texting than talking in person.( Pg 26)
Place: (Open Space) Two at the Pink Salon, one on the street that Arianna saw, two in the woods behind her house, then one in her driveway. (pg 110)
Thing: (Wheel) He gripped the steering wheel and the snake flexed. (pg 84)
Color: (white)She ran her finger over a thin white line that extended across his rib cage. (pg129)

My Rating: 4.5stars
My Thoughts:
Sweet Blood guardian Jackson meets blogger Arianna Welles while saving her niece from the Dark Bloods who have special plans for her. In the third full length novel of this exciting series we get another great entry and Jacks is definitely ready for his star turn. Fans of the series get glimpses of familiar faces and those new to the series will be able to follow along without getting lost.

Jacks and Arianna are great together as he comes off as the ultimate sex candy and she is worthy fated mate. I liked that Arianna was independent and though human not completely helpless or hapless as she used her natural skills and abilities to protect and to grow into a fierce fighter. Jackson, who presented previously as a carefree female magnet allows a peek under his skin and through his past – without dragging the story to maudlin-town. The familiar guardians, mates, enemies and friends make valuable contributions to move the story along as secondary characters rather than pointless appearances for window dressing. Their independent actions and interactions with our star couple also laid additional groundwork for future series entries as well. The villains of the piece were not to be outdone as their nefarious schemes, machinations and betrayals kept the suspense of the story interesting. The ending while sweet & somewhat predictable is not saccharine.

Pat, I accepted woods as an open space. It seems more like a forest to me. But I know lots of state wooded areas are called open space.

However, you already claimed black in post 187. So let me know if you want to claim another color.

Lina Changed my book.

WEEK #4: WHEEL
You Slay Me (Aisling Grey Guardian, #1) by Katie MacAlister
Book: You Slay Me
Finished: 02-10-12
Rating: ★★
Review: I'd heard such good things about this author and about this series, but I have to say, I was not charmed at all. Sure, there were moments of humour and for the most part the story was well-paced, but there were so many holes in the plot and more importantly, I just wasn't a big fan of the hero and heroine.

First, for an almost 40 y.o heroine, Ashling Grey was an idiot - albeit one who apparently researched demon lore just for fun. So maybe not a complete idiot, just a bimbo who by all rights should be dead from all the dangerous situations she stupidly kept putting herself into... As for Drake, to me he just came across as a smug, arrogant, sexy thief who was smoking hot (literally).

I wont rush out to read another of Kate McAlister's books, but I'll admit to being curious if it's just this one that I didn't like and maybe there are better ones of her work that I'll enjoy more.

Person: SINGLE FEMALE - Cover. /i>
Place: METROPOLITAN AREA - Location 71.9. ""There is a strong occult society here in Paris.”
Item: WHEEL - Location 17.7. ""The taxi driver tossed my bag into the other side and slid behind the wheel.”

Alley (alleycatfish) Week 5: Wheel
My Soul to Keep (Soul Screamers, #3) by Rachel Vincent
Book: My Soul to Keep - Rachel Vincent
Rating: ★★★★
Completed: 10/3
Review:
I actually liked this one. I don't remember being too impressed with the previous books - I had read them last year sometime and just didn't want to continue right then. There were typical annoying teenager moments, but that's to be expected in any YA book. Really did want to sock Kaylee's cousin in the mouth a few times though.

People: Couple: pg. 270 One room over, two half-dressed couples had found an alternate use for Mr. Fuller's pool table, and in the kitchen, one of the football team's managers was manning a keg someone's big brother had bought.
Place: Pub: pg. 251 "You let us worry about that," my father said with a note of finality he'd probably perfected kicking drunks out of his parents' pub in Ireland.
Thing: Wheel: pg. 44 I sighed and crawled across his lap, wedging my torso between the wheel and his chest as I felt around for the button.
Color: Yellow: pg. 335 I stepped on the gas to make it through a yellow light, then dropped back to the speed limit.
