Alley (alleycatfish) Week 2: Green
Lord of Misrule (The Morganville Vampires, #5) by Rachel Caine
Book: Lord of Misrule - Rachel Caine
Rating:  ★★★
Completed: 9/8
Review:
This series is about a smart girl named Claire who moves to Morganville to attend college. She soon finds out that Morganville is a vampire-ruled town. This is the sixth book in the series, and in this one, a war between rival Vamp 'families' for control of Morganville (among other things) has begun.  It's definitely a YA book.  It's not an amazing must-read, but it's better than other YA vampire dreck I've read.  I'll continue reading this series until it becomes unreadable crap (House of Night, anyone?).

People: Celebrity: pg. 8 Amelie—the Founder, and the baddest vampire in town, to hear most of the others tell it —looked fragile and pale, even for a vampire.

Places: Open Space: pg. 214 "Stay here," Michael said, and stepped through into the dim, open space .

Things: Smoke: pg.95 She could see the smoke curling off him like morning mist.

Colors: Green: pg. 228 Claire was a little shocked at the color of the sky outside—a solid gray, with clouds moving so fast it was like time-lapse on the Weather Channel. The edges looked faintly green , and in this part of the country, that was never a good sign.

READ:
Darkness Falls (Immortal Beloved, #2) by Cate Tiernan
Darkness Falls by Cate Tiernan
Rating: 3.75stars
Completed: 9/8
Review: Middle book of the Immortal Beloved Trilogy, where our heroines past is explored via flashbacks (my personal favorite *gag*). It was fun and interesting to see some of Nasty's past and catch up with the characters she left behind in book one. The climax and epilogue were done so well with Nasty's character growth I'm interested in finishing the series as it was touch & go earlier on. You definitely have to read this series in order as much of what is referenced this time around started in the earlier book.

SCAVENGED ITEMS:
People - Child(ren):“I have two hundred and thirty-five children,” he said, and I almost fell over.(pg 58)
Places - Pub: This part of Boston was great for walking, and after I’d borrowed some clothes and dabbed makeup on my eyes and nose, we’d gone from pub to bar to club to bar.( pg 149)
Things - Stairs: Reyn’s voice was quiet as we climbed the stairs.(pg 22)
Colors - Green: Charles’s was emerald green.(pg 39)

Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Finished: 9/9/12
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:I love the richness of the characters that Moning has created for this series of books. Adrienne de Simone vows not to ever fall in love with a beautiful man again because she hates their lying and cheating ways. The Hawk has never had a woman say no to him ever yet that is exactly what Adrienne does time and time again. He can't understand why this is until she is injured and learns the why of it. The Hawk vows to make Adrienne his no matter what. Can Adrienne move beyond her past to see the man ~Hawk really is? Can Hawk show Adrienne that he really cares? Your answers await you in Beyond the Highland Mist.

REVIEW:
Item: #2 - GREEN
For You (The 'Burg, #1) by Kristen Ashley
Book:For You
Rating: ★★★★★
Finished: 10-SEP-12
Review: This was possibly the darkest of K.A's book that I've read to date, being more gruesome but also loaded with a lot more emotional history of the two main characters, which added an extra layer to the read for me. I liked Feb and Colt, liked that they'd stuffed up, liked that they were trying to make it back and make it better for each other, and appreciated that this time, the suspense and thriller plot actually acted as a the catalyst for the rekindled romance, rather than as an additional sub-plot.

*PERSON: Warrior - ““‘Alexander’,” she said, “means warrior, defender.” pg 228 .
*THING: Stairs - “Suly came with the agents and me to the conference room but Colt didn’t glance my way as he headed toward the stairs.” Pg 58 .
*PLACE: Bar/Pub - Main character is part-owner of a family-run bar, continuous reference to her workplace. First mentioned pg 4 .
*COLOUR: Green - “ She’d worn one the other night and tonight she had on a Sturgis Motorcycle Raly t-shirt, its army green fabric featuring a display of grinning skuls interlinked with flowers at the chest.” Pg 71."

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 1882 comments Everlasting Kiss (Everlasting, #1) by Amanda Ashley

Book: Everlasting Kiss by Amanda Ashley(Done 9/11)
Rating: 2-stars
Finished: Sept. 11, 2012
Review: Urggh. Someone on goodreads said this book was filled with every vampire cliché known to man, and they were dead on. There was nothing creative about this story and the characters were annoying.
The heroine was a vampire hunter who fell in love with vampires. She stole their blood and sold it on the black market for money. She killed them because they were already “dead”, but she got mad when one vampire fought back and killed her brother. She felt disgust and anger at her vampire love that her brother was dead. (I’m sorry Daisy, but aren’t you and your family vampire hunters? Do you think they don’t feel loss or is it an emotion reserved only for your family?). Anyway, I love the romance novels written under this author’s pseudonym Madeline Baker, so I will give her Amanda Ashley books another try. Just not this series.

People—Celebrity : “ The Crypt had become a popular hang-out for up-and-coming Hollywood starlets, producers, musicians, and fans of the same.” (pg. 7)

Place—Road: “So what do you say we hit the road?” (pg. 173)

Things—Bag:”When she pulled the keys from her bag…”(pg. 16)

Color—Green: “Tonight, he wore a thigh-length black leather coat over a dark green shirt and khaki pants. (pg. 335).

Now if I can just find time to fit in potty training.

ETA: potty training for my son not myself...

PepperP0t | 2106 comments a likely story the potty training is for him. its probably because you don't have time to go

message 133: by Lina (new)

Lina LOL, I'm in the middle of training my son too, Dawn. I have a sticker chart at home, and an app on my phone (iGoPotty) for when we're out and about, that works wonders.

This is my last child, and he's been the hardest to toilettrain yet. My girl only took two and a half weeks and then a month for nights, my elder son was 3 weeks for days and another 4-5 for nights. Byron has been on and off for over two months already. *sigh*

I am haveing the same problem. My girl for the most part accident free by 2 1/2. A few night issues still, but she was so prissy if she got any thing on her clothes she had to change the whole outfit. My boy could care less if he wears the same diaper all day long, and very little interest in the process. I may have to look for the app. He loves my kindle.

Review: Not my favorite of the series but definitely a good one for the series. This time out we look at Aimee Peltier & Fang's interspecies romance up close and personal. I liked the subplots going on with the Peltiers & that there were so many secrets exposed which could only be good for fans of the series as it continues. IMO this is one of my very favorite series and definitely an auto-buy author for me.
