For me, I'm kind of in the middle. I think mainstream, casual dating is destructive, but I'm not sure whether all kind of dating/courtship is bad or wrong. What about y'all? Dating or Courtship? When is the appropriate time (as in age... teen, young adult, ect.) to instigate a relationship? What are your personal guidelines in a relationship? I'd love to here everybody's opinions.

You might find my blog of interest where I critique Josh Harris’s IKDG book. Sadly Harris mentions all the problems he sees with dating but doesn’t admit the problems his approach has caused.

Hope this helps.

I wonder what Jesus would do if he were on earth today? Somehow I don't see him dating - it just seems so trivial in comparison to the enlightenment he knows. And no, I'm no Jesus, but I want to be like him. It just seems that people want to use religion to make them happy and to justify their actions. Which makes sense, I guess, it's just not (IMHO) what Jesus' message was. He spoke of otherworldly transcendence that makes a man give everything ("no longer my own", "bought at a price", "I no longer live, Christ lives through me". Would love to hear from those who differ :-)

I believe in courtship more than dating. Although at this time and age one could be confused with the other. For me, dating is more casual hanging out and seeing where this would lead but courtship is more on pursuing that person with the intention to marry. There has to be that intention or else it would be futile and useless. For me also, their is no appropriate time (although I'm not saying that it's not right for teen to be in a relationship) I think you should look more into how mature are you in terms or dealing with relationship issues. That would be a better gage than age. For me, as long as you are capable of handling the relationship maturely, then why not? I believe got has placed this longing in our hearts to be loved and cherished. And although there are some who remain single, we are all entitle to the kind of love and affection that we truly deserve - just as how God wants us to be loved and cherished.
