This was an interesting read. I wasn't drawn to the characters at all and found them all cold & shallow. However, I was drawn to the story.
This was the first in the series novel, so obviously it was full of world building.
Allie gets hit by a bus & is escorted after her death by the fallen angel, Raziel. He escorts her to hell, but at the last minute pulls her back. Then the whole story is about the problem of what to do with her now, where to send her, why he even felt to pull her back & what her purpose is. All of that was enough to keep me glued to this book.
This reminded me a lot of the Shadow Dwellers series by Jacquelyn Frank.

BTW I have a new blog that I've set up, it's going to be about games, books and perfumes - check it out and follow if you wish! http://happyindulgence.wordpress.com
They are saying that next shelf has a high probability of having a winning team, we don't have a 4 in a row unfortunately. So our time together may be drawing to a close!

Review: Conner is a very old vampire like 400 years old old. He protects Roman and his family because along time ago he was also saved by Roman. But in doing so Conner sometimes doesn't take orders from his maker or Angus so good. And that is what takes him to Marielle the angel. Marielle is sort of like Conner in that they can't fallow orders that have consequences if not followed. So she is kicked out of heaven for her not following orders. Marielle is found later by Conner and taken to safety and a medic. While this is going on she is telling everyone not to touch her because if they do something strange happens to them. That is exactly what happens, she is taken away until they figure out what to do with her. Read the book and find out what happens to Marielle: will she go back to heaven or be banished for the rest of her life? Will Conner be able to forgive himself for his past mistakes and regrets?

Hehe thanks for checking it out Lisa and reading the posts :) everyone has a vice and at least my one isn't harming anyone, so I felt the need to justify before anyone judges me lol.

WOW!! One sitting & it's all finished! I got the shelf, saw this book I was going to read after this SK League book I'm currently reading (needing a break from the torture this guy was surviving) & VOILA! Jumped right into another torture novel... GEEZ!
So, a dream-hunter, Solin, is being held in hell to be interigated aka tortured, so Noir could find the key to Olympus. This guy knows where it is. The key holds the power to kill all of the Olympian Gods.
Reading all of SK's Dark-Hunter novels, I am all about wiping out Olympus, but if the Dark Demon gods do it... Humans are worse off.
Lydia, a semi-bad ass babe, goes for it and tries to bust out Solin. She is caught & held by Seth while he lets Solin go to bring the key back to him. Lydia finds out Seth is being held as Noirs slave & has been tortured for years by Noir...
Then they have their bonding story, his fear because he knows no love & has been hurt physically & mentally by all in his life. You know how that goes. It's always solved in the last 3 chapters of her books.
I liked it. It was a great break from my 500 page league novel, however, I could really go for some lovey dovey stuff right now instead of all this torture i'm reading about now!!

How did you find time to read while making sure the boys survived? hehehe

How did you find time to read while making sure the boys survived? hehehe"
It was the stress I needed to escape... Read a page, look up & count them. Read a page, count them... pause. wait for the head to come out of the water... Got 5 chapters read when they were drying of to play xbox for 30 minutes or so... LOL!

Sweet Evil was a pleasant surprise, I absolutely loved the blend of romance, sin, and setting with the different Dukes of Hell having Nephilim children who do their evil bidding. Anna is a pure, innocent, incredibly good Nephilim who slowly finds herself sinning through the influences of other Nephilim, growing up, and meeting Kaiden. I liked how this book dealt with complex relationships, and it wasn't just a HEA with all of the characters. I especially adored the powers that the Nephilim had and all of that supernatural goodness.
I was really enamoured with the book and read it quickly until the end. Definitely want more and can't wait until the sequel!

Oh, I was looking at that one, Jeann. My library has it on audio.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'angels'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D

Maybe. Kind of hard for me to do "buddy reads" right now, as my house is crazy, Jeann. Thanks, though! I normally really love "buddy reads."

Sorry...but you asked. ☺
Everyone else has been great, though. On time and working hard.

HAHAHA! Sorry! had to laugh! We just got our pool put in. They started in February! Contract says it will take 10 weeks to put in! STILL not complete. They have electrical to do. (MAJOR WIRING) and calk the expansion joint. Haven't seen them in 6 weeks & we had to sub out many things ourselves!!
I can definitely feel your pain! OH! Kicker is that we still owe them a hefty chunk of cash. Their answer is: At least you have water in your pool!

Sounds like a stressful time with the house! It will be worth it in the end though, hopefully. That cabinet guy sounds so dodgy.

Title/Author: Grave Peril, by Jim Butcher
Series: The Dresden Files, #3
Rating: ★★★★★
Read: August 22, 2012
First-time author: No
To-be-continued: Definitely!
Review: my goodreads review

★★★★★ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Narrated by James Marsters, who reads it well, with plenty of variation and differentiation in the voices. He doesn’t do the females great, but most male readers don’t. I understand Mr. Marsters doesn’t narrate the whole series, so I’m trying not to have his voice cement in my mind as Harry’s, since these books are in first person POV.
I think this installment in The Dresden Files is my favorite so far. (Or do I say that every time?) I know I sound like a broken record, but I LOVE Harry Dresden. While he is the resident ‘anti-hero’ and sleuthing wizard of Chicago, Illinois, he is such a lovable character. Harry is amazing with the big events in the book; however, he really shines in the little moments; such as when he is chagrin in his interaction with his friend Michael Carpenter, a Knight of the Cross, who is the voice of morality with his adherence to Christianity.
In the course of ghost hunting with Michael, Harry introduces us so many new characters. One is the faerie Leanansidhe, a Noble of the Winter Court of the Sidhe and Harry’s godmother! Harry is not above telling a lie to get out of a promise he made to her years ago. You can’t blame him, since she’s a bit bipolar and wants to make him one of her hounds, so that she can give him plenty of love and sustenance.
There are also many things introduced, such as Amoracchius – the holy sword wielded by Harry’s friend Michael. You just know this sword is going to be important later on, down the line in this series.
A lot happened in this novel; I know I'll be reading or listening to it again. It is loaded not only with ghosts, vampires (White Court, Black Court, or Red Court, take your pick), and faeries (Summer Court and Winter Court fae), but sorceress vampires, duke vampires, vampire promotion balls, sorcerer’s journals, Nightmare-demons, seers who seek Harry out to avoid their own death, priests, policemen, newspaper reporters, Hellhounds, kidnapped pregnant women, cemeteries, dragons, wiped memories and more.
Even though Mr. Butcher has created Nevernever out of his fertile imagination, he still manages to bring the “Windy City” alive when I envision this Urban Fantasy world. This is definitely turning into a landmark series.
