Born to Darkness by Suzanne Brockmann

Review
This book was highly anticipated for me. I really like Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series and I think she is a pretty amazing person. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair review. The first 270 pages of the book was really good and I couldn't put it down. But the last 240 pages dragged for me. I think it may be a first book issue. The sex is hot, the romances are believable and the world created is unique and very interesting, the excitement just didn't last through the entire book.

Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn

Review
I listened to this book. I was expecting to not be impressed and think that this series was just okay. After all, the series is about werewolves and vampires -- hasn't this theme been done before. But I was pleasantly surprised with this book and I plan to continue on to the next book. Kitty is the main character and I liked her, the side characters of TJ, Carl and Cormac were interesting. The setup of Carl as the alpha and Kitty's relationship to him was interesting too. The one negative for me is that not enough time was spent developing Kitty's character; readers do not see a lot of her or perhaps enough of her outside of the action. I would have preferred more character development, hopefully the next books do this a little bit more.

Awesome job catching up, Regina! Wish I could do it. :-)

Review: Harris is a much better novelist than short story writer. These were quite simple, but I did get my Sookie-fix. They were based on different novels, but I was disappointed that Eric didn't appear more frequently.
At times, the stories did not seem completely like Sookie, especially the last one with the mysterious were showing up in her woods and in her home. Sookie seems too smart to fall for the trick her great-grandfather played on her.

It took me a while to get into the story for this one, but I enjoyed it once I did. Riley is faced with her first undercover operation for the Directorate as she searches for her kidnapper and the person behind the cloning. She is faced with some tough challenges and it is intriguing to see how she tackles them. I'm very interested in finding out what happens next for her with Quinn and Gautier. Overall, this was a good read and I will definitely continue reading the series.

First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

Review
This book was alot of fun. I listened to the narration and it was done really well by Lorelei King (the same narrator that does the Stephanie Plum series and Mercy Thompson series). First Grave was funny, sexy, and kept my interest. I loved Reyes and my desire to meet him kept me going. Charley is a great heroine, I liked her alot. It is funny, because this series seems to get a variety of reactions. I am on the like side. I plan to read/listen to the next one but I won't be racing out to buy it.

Review: It was awesome! It's got mythology, which I love, but like every type there is. So, I learned some new stuff. Ashline is very snarky, which I love. There was also some great action in it.
Great ending. Totally hated it. :-) And stupid crazy cliffhanger. Let's just say I can't wait for

What did you think?
I nearly bounced off my bed when I heard that QUAY is next.

I couldn't put it down Alyssa. I loved being back in the world of the Brothers. Many many parts were 5+++ stars for me, but some parts dragged and I skimmed. However, still an awesome book and I was convinced. :) I like the new enemy. And thank goodness -- NO LESSER POVs!!!

Review: I don't know what it was about this book, but I was not impressed with this one. There were too many werewolves and not enough characters to care about. I skipped through some chapters because I could not tolerate the werewolf crap - especially with the MacFinn guy and his wacko girlfriend.
Where I really liked the first book about Dresden, I found myself slogging through this one. I will have to think twice about whether or not I'll read any more of these.

Review: I like this one much better than the Magic book. I really am enjoying this series and I love the attitude of Jim Heron and his posse. This book is about Jim working to save the soul of Isaac who actually worked with Jim in the undercover special ops organization. Isaac meets a lovely woman named Grier and he falls in love - of course and this affects how Jim has to work to save him and her. The love seems are pretty steamy, too!

This installment of the Psy-Changeling series delves deeper into the world of the Psy and their Silence. I love the unique world Singh has created and her ability to describe it without being too technical. Ashaya Aleine is a leading Psy scientist and Dorian Christensen is a leopard Changeling who cannot shift. Dorian has hated the Psy for a very long time until he finds himself falling for Ashaya. Their relationship is intense as he tries to coax Ashaya out of Silence and unleash the emotion within her while dealing with his own demons. I admire Dorian's devotion to his pack, Ashaya and her son after all he has endured. Dorian's fiery friend, Mercy, was one of my favorite characters and I look forward her story in the next book, Branded by Fire.

Review: I think I'm going to like this series. The angels and demons and fate of the world being in Jim's hands is interesting. (Poor Jim. That's a lot of pressure, especially when he doesn't know what's going on.) Eddie and Adrian are cool. I'm excited to learn more about them in the future. Dog sounds too cute.
Anyways, this book is about Vin and Marie-Terese. Talk about some bad pasts and issues. It was good they finally got some happiness.
I hope there's more about the demons in the next books. Evil can be cool sometimes. :-)
Definitely will be reading
