Demonglass is much better than Hexhall. FYI :-)

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 1193 comments Ok getting my reading mojo back but had to change both my ghost book and free space book

Free Space
Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs (Glory St. Clair, #5) by Gerry Bartlett

Ghost
Betrayal (Immortal #2) by Gillian Shields

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I finished My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent for the Ghost shelf on 2/17/12.

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything I've read so far. The bean sidhes and reapers were really interesting. Plus, there's all those mystery 'things' out there too. I've got the next 3 books, and I can't wait to get into them and learn more. Whoo!

...Also, thanks, Kristen, for the heads up about Demonglass.

Amanda A | 812 comments Fracture by Megan Miranda
Finished 2/18
3½★

Fracture is a very good YA debut. I wasn't too sure about what to expect in the beginning but became engrossed in the story as it progressed. For the most part, all of the characters were engaging. The ending was predictable but what I didn't like was that it seemed abrupt. I would have liked more details about what happened to the characters later on. This left me wavering between a 3 and 4 star rating, thus the 3½ stars. All in all, Megan Miranda is a talented writer and I look forward to reading more from her.

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am deciding between these for my Free Space:

The Renfield Syndrome (Rhiannon's Law, #2) by J.A. Saare GhosTV (PsyCop, #6) by Jordan Castillo Price Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane Fire Baptized (Habitat, #1) by Kenya Wright

message 108: by Amanda A (new)

Amanda A | 812 comments A book I read this week also happened to be on the SOS bookshelf, so I'll go ahead and use it for the free space.
Love Bites (Argeneau, #2) by Lynsay Sands
Finished 2/15
4★

Love Bites is another entertaining installment in the Argeneau series. I really enjoy how Lynsay Sands blends humor, romance and action to keep you wanting more while also keeping the plot light in comparison to some of the other vampire series. The Argeneau family is hilarious and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters. It was also fun to watch the evolution of Etienne and Rachel's relationship. I will definitely be continuing this series and hope to learn more about all of the secondary characters in the coming books.

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments For the personal shelf, it will also be one from my free space choices -- so basically I need to choose two of these to satisfy those two shelves:

The Renfield Syndrome (Rhiannon's Law, #2) by J.A. Saare GhosTV (PsyCop, #6) by Jordan Castillo Price Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane Fire Baptized (Habitat, #1) by Kenya Wright

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I finished Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews for the Favorite series space on 2/21/12.

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: Oh how I missed Kate and Curran! It was another great story. Tons of action. Kate always getting into trouble. Kate and Curran arguing. (Probably some of my favorite parts.) The end was interesting. Can't wait to see what happens next in Magic Slays.

Amanda A | 812 comments Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3) by Darynda Jones
Shelf: Favorite Series
Finished 2/21
4★

This series is hysterical! I love how the author blends paranormal elements with humor, mystery and romance all thrown in to the mix. My favorite characters are Charley and Cookie, who are both such a trip! I would love to hang out with them for a day. The ending is not a cliffhanger but it left me hoping that this book is setting up for something big to come. I can't wait for the next book!

Kristen (k10bentley) | 422 comments I just finished an audio book that is actually shelved once as "ghosts" - I can't believe it!!

So...here's my ghost book: Wild Ride by Jennifer Crusie
Finished: 2/22
Stars: 3
Review: It was a wild ride. This is the story of the aging amusement park: Dream Land. This park is the prison to four horrible demons and a fifth one that's rather fun; ironically, the fun demon is named "Fun." There are fifth humans (called the Guardia) who live on the grounds of the park and are charged with keeping the demons trapped in their chalices. It seems like a serious premise, but the book is actually quite funny and at times, romantic.

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 1193 comments I forgot to tall y'all I changed my ghost book to The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson cause I have to give it back to the library

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 1193 comments Ok I know I have been changing my books like crazy but I'm going try not to next shelf.
On that note I change my favorite series book to Beautiful Darkness (Caster Chronicles, #2) by Kami Garcia

Kristen (k10bentley) | 422 comments I finished my favorite series: Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand (Kitty Norville, #5) by Carrie Vaughn

Stars: 3
Date: 2/22/12
Review: This is such a fun series! This time, Kitty and Ben go to Las Vegas to get married. Once they arrive at their hotel, Kitty is shocked to find that they are there during a gun convention! The problems start when some bounty hunters show up and Kitty has to escape. She finds a very strange group of shifters and vampire ruling the town. Ben is kidnapped and Kitty spends her time trying to find him to be sure that he didn't just get cold feet.

It wasn't my favorite Kitty book, but it was a quick read full of action.

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 1193 comments I finished my ghost book The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson last night 2/22/12 and I gave 5 stars*****. I really liked how the author used Jack the Ripper and ghost. I will be going on with this series. I can't wait to see how the series plays out.

Review
This books is a slow build. The book is told from the first person point of view of an unmarried young woman in the 1870s who is slowly reaching the designation of spinster, Margaret. The book alterates with flashbacks from the point of view of another young woman, a "spiritualist" who is able to contact spirits and ghosts. This woman, Selina, is currently in prison and Margaret is a "lady" visitor to the prison. This period of time is so fascinating for me. People lived such restrained lives, particularly women. Grown women are treated like children not allowed to understand their finances and floating around in life unhappy and searching. So many of these unhappy searching women in this story seek out "spiritualists" for entertainment. The tale is definitely gothic, dark and gripping. I said it was a slow build, but toward the end it is like a huge boulder rolling down a hill - -the speed picks up and I raced to the end to see what would happen. I really loved this book and will definitely be looking for others by Sarah Waters.

message 142: by Regina (last edited Feb 26, 2012 05:34PM) (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I have decided that I am reading Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead for the demon shelf.

I am still reading Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane for the favorite series shelf.

And I am scratching my book for free space, I will decide that in a bit.

ETA: I decided on my Free Space book. Born to Darkness by Suzanne Brockmann

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 1193 comments Ok for favorite I'm reading Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price and for demon I'm reading Every Demon Has His Day (Demon, #1) by Cara Lockwood

Kristen (k10bentley) | 422 comments For my demon books, I'm going to get my hands on Crave (The Fallen Angels, #2) by J.R. Ward , unless I find something else.

message 145: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments So, I can't decide what to read for the 'demons' shelf.

Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward Adam (Nightwalkers, #6) by Jacquelyn Frank Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls, #1) by C.C. Hunter Original Sin (The Seven Deadly Sins, #1) by Allison Brennan Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning

Those are what I'm looking at. Help?

message 146: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I'm torn between Magic Slays and Faefever - they're the only 2 I've read. I think you should go for Faefever if you have book #4 and 5 on hand since they have cliffhangers. If not, Magic Slays.

message 147: by Amanda A (new)

Amanda A | 812 comments I second Faefever. It's also the only one of the group that I have read, but the others are on my TBR. :-)

message 148: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I would third Vi's suggestion.

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 1193 comments I 4th feafever
