Ooopsss, sorry. Sleeping one hour at a time for the last 4-5 nights is taking its toll.

The theme of the week is "judge a book by its cover". Pick a book with a beautiful cover. Pick a book that looking at the cover you won't read, but the story was totally word it. Pick a book which cover means something for you. It's all about the cover.

The blind date with a book, is an event that some libraries are doing, that you can't see which book is, only now the genre - so, you have no idea what the cover is.

I'm all pumped on meds due to my migraines and allergies, so the brain isn't that great :(

I got a question, why is there a name alert next to my name?

Lisa Kay is the best one to answer that question but if I had to guess I'd say is because there is another Nancy on another team for the tower teams challenge.

No I don't think so. Mary has a name alert too. I'll ask the mods about it.

Yes, Nancy, Sonia is correct. That is the reason; there is more than one Nancy in the Tower Teams Reading Challenge. I don't want the new people who join to confuse which team they are assigned. Plus, I don't want to get confused, either. ☺

There is no reason to change your name...unless you want to differentiate it, somehow.

BTW, sometimes (since avatars can change), if you don't differentiate your name, I will -- by putting a last name initial or your state/county behind your name.

Ok. I just wasn't sure why it was why it was there and if i needed to do anything about it.

Thanks, Sonia, I get it now. Makes sense, even through the migraine meds, lol. And I had no idea what the library blind date book thing was, hehe.

Rosina | 1800 comments Finished Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia ...loved it....

started Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr ....so far its just ok...not really wowing me yet..

message 1120: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Finished Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma , I needed a book with a heart on the cover, so I guess it's good to go for the Theme of The Week.

Gosh, this book totally rattled me, I'm still shaking. Although is not a book for everybody, I wish I could read it through the BOM discussion, to see different interpretations of the events described.

I have this deep strong conflicted emotions I had after finished Stolen A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher , although I did manege not to cry so much in the end - which is a very good thing since I'm still at work, but I did have to go for some fresh air.

I'm halfway through Switched (Trylle, #1) by Amanda Hocking and I'm really liking it so far :)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Can't stop looking at Bing Images of Library Blind Date book things! My library did not do this but I am thinking of doing something kind of silly -- wrapping books off my shelves that I've been meaning to read but just don't get around to because the library has so many books that I want, lol. Figure I'll wrap them up and choose a book every week or so at random and make myself read it!

Not silly at all, Teresa, if it gets you to read some of the books you already own :) Our library hasn't done this yet, but we're working on it -- better late than never, I guess, right?

message 1126: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Clever, Teresa! I should do that with some of mine. It sounds like such fun!

message 1127: by Barb (new)

Barb It would be fun for a book group to do! Maybe as a holiday gift exchange?

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments It would be fun to do that, Barb! Great idea.

I have so much wrapping paper just lying around, I figured why not put it to good use, haha.

thats a really cool idea i might do that too

message 1130: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Blind Date With a Book: I think it would be fun to wrap them up. It would be like opening a present. I think I'll do it and just put the genre name on the outside; that way I'll forget which one is which.

message 1131: by Barb (last edited Feb 19, 2013 04:49PM) (new)

Barb If you use the same wrapping paper for all of them, you *really won't remember LOL Or ... make the paper match the genre somehow!

message 1132: by *Ash* (new)

*Ash* (ashdex) | 56 comments I don't think I actually did this survey thingy, so here goes...

Name: Ashley or Ash
Location (optional): Ugh North Carolina, I can't wait to leave!
Favorite Book of All Time: I don't have just one. There are way too many great books out there to narrow it down to just one.
Favorite Book of 2012: Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan. I lover her work.
Favorite Book Genre: anything pretty much, aside from westerns and some sci-fi
Favorite Animal: Sharks or snakes... I know, I know...
Favorite Cartoon: I don't watch many cartoons, or much TV. ummm... Family Guy.
Favorite Movie: Again to many to pick just one.
If I could meet any fictional character, it would be: I would love to meet any of the BDB males, and I would love to meet Carol from Reason to Breathe, just so I can bitch slap that awful woman! Oh and the bands Sinners & Exodus End.
Some of my other hobbies/interests are: Reading, writing, music, travel. I blog also, but not as often as I would like.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Oh, Barb, that's a great idea about matching the paper to the genre somehow! I have a plethora of Christmas paper so I won't really be able to do that, but I do like the idea of wrapping the books all in the same paper, too. I would also just write the genre on them so I can at least choose by mood. I think this is going to be my project for the next few days!

message 1134: by ShoSho (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 446 comments I use random.org for this ,it's much easier than wrapping your books ;)
I only have the books that I have on my to-read list so whenever I'm not sure what to read next , I just use that website to give me a number between 1 and the number of books I have on my list and then I read the book with that number !

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Haha, that's a good trick, too, ShoSho. I may use that method for another purpose, actually. I'm often torn on which new-to-me series to begin so I may assign each series a number and then roll the dice to choose! Thanks for that tip.

However, I have a lot of books (which I need to read) at home that I haven't added to my Goodreads account at all, plus I really need to use up some of my wrapping paper so I think wrapping the books will make it more fun for me than just rolling virtual dice (or even real ones) and then looking for the book on my shelves (they are not organized at all). For me, the wrapped book makes it more fun, anticipating the unveiling of the title.

Especially if you wrap the books now, then wait a bit to read them -- so you'll have forgotten what's in the wrapping :) Although in my case, I wouldn't have to wait very long LOL
