Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments We have a half a Butterfinger on the top, but our cupcakes are light like the second pic...the recipe I used has a banana flavored cake mix. I didn't think I'd like it, but I do lol

message 152: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ Susan I admit I have not read any others from the series. It may would have swayed how I felt for sure having a bit of a background.

OMG cupcakes yummmmmo and Butterfingers at that! Oh Lisa your a cupcake tease! (giggle) I so have me a sweet tooth now!

message 153: by Christal (new)

Christal | 90 comments A combination of the first and second cupcakes would be divine! Can't have butterfinger cupcakes without the candy bar on top. ;-)

Ok.. well I read it. I will say that I felt no connection with either Ana..."

well...as Fifty Shades goes...I have to agree with you on some level....this one was not that great for me either...simply put... Ana seemed to me to be extremely annoying!!! I kept saying to myself " s%&*t or get off the pot!" lol and Fifty wasn't soooo Fifty in this one either. I am reading the 3rd one now...and so far it is better than the 2nd....

message 157: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Catherine, hun, is that your review? If so, what are the plot links, what did you rate it and when did you finish it?

message 158: by Catherine (last edited Jan 15, 2013 12:35PM) (new)

Catherine | 728 comments no...I will have it up later...I was commenting on Damiellar's review! tonight..I promise! :)

message 159: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments No, it wasn't meant to rush you, I just didn't want to miss it if that was it. No worries!

message 160: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 728 comments ok...no worries :) I am reading Fifty Shades Freed not Fifty Shades Darker

:) I definitely like 3 better :)

message 161: by Catherine (last edited Jan 16, 2013 05:16PM) (new)

Catherine | 728 comments so...finished:)

Book: Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James

Points: 11

*Links:
PLOT: Book is about obsessive, controlling relationship
COVER: Handcuffs match video
NAME: Author last name matches band name
SHELF: Obsessed Hero

REVIEW: Well..Fifty was definitely more Fifty in this one! much more of his personality came through...I have to say I love Christian, even though he is sooooo f'd up....he is still loveable. I liked the romance, and the fact that a new twist was introduced...don't want to put anything to give away.....that said...I did enjoy this book....you could see more of the inner workings of the romance in this book...it was not all wham, bam, thank you ma'am! althoughat some times..there was a lack of vocabulary...I mean really..."Hmmmm"? was that the best she could come up with?

message 162: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments great review, Catherine!

I'm off to request our dancer :)

message 163: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 728 comments thanks :) I have to say...the only one I didn't truly enjoy out ot the trilogy was Fifty Shades Darker...and that was because Ana was so annoying....I still liked it..because of Fifty, and because it is a romance...but honestly... I truly wanted to smack her!

message 164: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I only read the first of the published for money versions. I read the whole story when it was published as fanfiction. As fanfiction, I really liked it. With it being Christain and Ana, not so much. Ana annoyed me soooo much. When it was Bella, I could forgive a lot ;)

message 165: by Catherine (last edited Jan 16, 2013 05:46PM) (new)

Catherine | 728 comments Bella? Yes..Ana was a bit annoying! I agree..i mean honestly...either accept him for what he is, and live with it, or leave! quit complaining!

message 166: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments It was originally published as Twilight Fanfiction so Christian and Ana were Edward and Bella

message 167: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 728 comments oh! I did not know this!!! :)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Yeah, she published a chapter about every week, week and a half. Everytime it hit my inbox, I immediately read it LOL I use to read Twilight fanfiction A LOT LOL

message 169: by Catherine (last edited Jan 16, 2013 05:51PM) (new)

Catherine | 728 comments although...don't hate me too much...but Bella kind of annoyed me a bit too! :) ( loved Edward..but honestly...where do these writers come from...that the women have to be simpering, wimpy, idiots!?!?! for crying out loud....it's the 21st century...stand up for yourselves! :)

message 170: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Bella was a little on the wishy-washy, clingy side. I loved Edward. After my reading affair with Twific, I absolutely adored Emmett. LOL

message 171: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 728 comments who's Emmet?

message 172: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Thanks for posting that Christal!

message 180: by Christal (new)

Christal | 90 comments Np Susan. I'm hoping we get a more recent song this week. 1960 and 1971 would be really hard to match (for me at least lol).

message 181: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I can 100% positevly say I wouldn't be reading a book that got me the setting points for the year lol

message 182: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ Oh please luck be with us it's not the 1960 and 1971 songs. I tried not to long ago to find a 1971 book for a challenge and omg it was dreadful.....

message 183: by Christal (new)

Christal | 90 comments Ha Susan, me either. I don't mind reading older books when I am recommended a good one, but it is so hard to find a decent one on short notice when no one else has read it.

message 184: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm there with you ladies hoping that the old books don't come up.

Well, at least 1971 is not so bad because the name of the author would give decent points. But there's no hope for the 1960 one (difficult to find in year, title and name) and when I read the lyrics, I could barely follow what it was about.

message 185: by Mary X (last edited Jan 17, 2013 11:24AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 752 comments I got nothing for the Alley-Oop song. I'm not into books set in the cave man era. I do have some books set in Holywood but Hollywood isn't in the title and it's not in the song lyrics, so I don't think they count.

I'll be relying on the shelf, what others pick and whehter or not my library has it if that one is picked.

message 186: by Christal (new)

Christal | 90 comments Oh my gosh, you weren't kidding DG. I hadn't looked at the lyrics yet... all I can get out of them is a caveman and I can't imagine reading a book about that. I just keep picturing either Tarzan or the Cavemen from the Geico commercials.

Mary, I'm right there with you. If that one gets picked, I will be relying on the shelf link.

message 187: by Mary X (last edited Jan 17, 2013 12:07PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 752 comments I have asthma and can't read older books without having breathing problems. So I can't go by year unless my library has a much newer copy. The last time I read an old book, I was horribly ill.

I'll be stalking all the team threads to see what people come up with. And crossing my fingers that that one doesn't get picked. Not worried about the James Taylor one. I got books out the wazooo that work with the name, they just aren't worth a lot of points at first glance.

message 188: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 728 comments how about Clan of the Cave Bear series? I have to read the 5th book in the series anyway :) would that work do you think? for the caveman era? obviously only if that song gets picked! lol :)

message 189: by Christal (new)

Christal | 90 comments I haven't read any of those books Catherine, but just from the name it sounds perfect. I'm still going to hope that song doesn't get picked though, lol.

message 190: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 728 comments it is a good series :) I am enjoying it....should really finish it....but I have been overwhelmed by other books! they have taken over my bedroom!!! lol :)

message 191: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Yup...not into Cavemen either! I don't think I've ever read a book with cavemen.

Yes, somebody mentioned that Cave Bear series in my group. My friends gave it good reviews but I'm not sure I want to read it.

message 192: by Dami (last edited Jan 17, 2013 03:24PM) (new)

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I'm wondering with the Alley-Oops song if there could possibly be some 'futuristic' type fantasies - the ones with the female explorer on a barbarian planet. I think one of the other teams was considering Keeper of the Heart (Ly-San-Ter Family, #2) by Johanna Lindsey for the last challenge which is the sequel to Warrior's Woman (Ly-San-Ter Family, #1) by Johanna Lindsey which I'm thinking may fit the spirit of the person being described..

I'm having a look through my shelves & boxes for any inspiration for the thers

message 193: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Happy Friday to you! Between my computer acting wonky and GR's being over capacity, I've been trying for an hour to get here and post this :)

Week 3 - ♬ You've Got a Friend by James Taylor (1971) No Video

Possible Links
Lyrics: Click Here
Video: none
Shelf: Friends To Lovers
Word: shimmy

Good luck!!

message 194: by Christal (new)

Christal | 90 comments Ugh, I was hoping for one of the newer songs. I'll be back later to post my book once I figure it out.

message 195: by Dami (new)

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I think I'm going to try Branded as Trouble by Lorelei James. It's on the right shelf so I'll get a minimum of Shelf + Name (1+5=6 points). I'm hoping when I read it I'll also find some Plot &/or Setting points.

And now to download it and off to bed I go

message 196: by Christal (last edited Jan 18, 2013 06:11AM) (new)

Christal | 90 comments Okay, 1971 was a bust so I'm just going to read Nightwalker by Allyson James. It has name (Allyson James), plot (Janet is trying to help save her friend Ansel), and cover (lyrics "dark and full of clouds" are featured on cover) for a total of 9 points.

Nightwalker (Stormwalker, #4) by Allyson James

I might ask about setting because the song refers to dark or night times and that's when this book takes place mostly because Ansel is a nightwalker.

"Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there to brighten up even your darkest nights."

"If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds"

message 197: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Good choices, ladies.

message 198: by Dami (new)

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments so I've just finished Branded as trouble and I can justify the plot points and 'shimmy' appears so it works out at 11 points. I'll brood in whether I can work out any other links (and stalk other teams threads to see if theres an easy high point book discovered that I c a n quickly substitute in )

otherwise I'll write up my review tomorrow

message 199: by Vi (new)

Vi Now that is fast, Damiellar. I've just about narrowed down my book choices. Amazing!

message 200: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I haven't picked a book yet! Great going, Damiellar!
