It is certainly an entertaining read, linking all sorts of fictional characters together. There is also a website about the 'world as myth' theory which goes into this in exhaustive detail. Not sure what it was called now.

Decided that it's October, so some scary books are in order: The Hellbound Heart and now The Damnation Game, both by Clive Barker.

I'm enjoying them. First time I've read either in something close to 30 years. (And originally, I had Hellbound Heart in Night Visions: The Hellbound Heart. That was a good horror anthology series -- at least, the five or so that I had in paperback.)

I love the Books of Blood and the Thief of Nowhere, but I've a bunch of his books on my shelf I still need to read.
I last read it in … must've been 2013 because that's when I wrote my review. So it's probably approaching time for a reread.

I'm really looking forward to that one -- I loved The Night Circus almost unreservedly.

Reading several things at once: I received the first three issue of Tales from the Magician’s Skull from subscribing during the kickstarter, also reading The Best of Robert E Howard Volume 1 (Del Rey), and slowly combing through Conan the Barbarian (Marvel Omnibus Volume 1) and as a companion to that Barbarians Life, by Roy Thomas
Finished Upon the Flight of the Queen recently, which was just as good as the first book. Now reading Monsters and Mythical Creatures from Around the World, a non-fiction book due out in a couple of days.
Just polished off the new Sword-n-Sorcery novella by Richard Lee Byers Arrival. Fun stuff... five Crusaders and a Saracen fighter summoned to an alternate world to fight "the Stain." Recommended, fast adventure. Looking forward to installment #2. Review posted.
Also just finished Tales from the Magician's Skull #3...and am writing a review now.

I am reading for the first time the first stories in Leiber's Swords and Deviltry. Also re-reading the first stories in Elric of Melniboné. About 80 pages into Erikson's Deadhouse Gates (Malazahn #2). Looking for writing inspiration, but none seem to be quite what I'm looking for yet.Just finished Lavie Tidhar's Gorel of Goliris collection The Black God's Kiss. I think have read all of his Gorel stories and it is close to the tone and themes that I want.
I am considering the Fearsome Magics anthology and maybe K.J. Parker's The Two Swords. Among new books, I will definitely pick up Joe Abercrombie's latest and am considering Seven Blades in Black by Sam Sykes.

I will read Savages if you add him! I have had that book on my bookshelf for about 2 Years! Time to read it!

Wow, I haven't posted in a while. Must have been busy. Anyway, currently reading the rather splendid The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
I'm reading P.C. Hodgell's The God Stalker Chronicles, a series that is at least S&S-adjacent at its beginning. (I think it turns more epic as the series progresses.)
