Most of the fans of this series started getting irritated with Charlaine Harris a few books back. They said it was most..."
From interviews I've read she's pretty tired of the series and is ready to be done. The next book is the last in the series and I'm glad. I hate when authors milk a series too long and I think that Harris might have gone maybe 2 or 3 books further than she should have. If she had cut the filler out of the last few then we would have had a solid last few books and she wouldn't have disappointed her readers.

I need to be more careful when I'm looking at books haha I thought this book would be more Urban Fantasy than Paranormal Romance but I was very wrong. I think that might have shadowed my feelings of this book as well. I understand paranormal romances, and romances in general, have a lot of sex. I get it. But for some reason there was just way too much in this book, and some of it didn't feel necessary. I wanted more action and character development. It was still interesting and I will probably read the next one, at least I know what to expect now.

I love this series. There is a lot of sex, but you kinda get used to it. And there is a lot more action going forward. I hope you like the next one.

WOW just realised that we are only waiting for Suzanne's reviews then we can claim 2 stamps!! Awesome :0)
How is your little one Suzanne, still poorly bless her? How is everyone else today?

Thank you, I was just being cheeky and tried my luck ;)i was so excited, especially since i was just browsing and had just joined the group when I saw the thread. I'm really looking forward to the next shelf being called.

I hope Suzanne's daughter is feeling better soon. I hate when babies are sick, makes me sad.
I hope ya'll have a great day. I'm headed to a memorial for a friend this afternoon, but I'll check in again later.

I was reading like crazy but I can tell that I'm slowing down and I don't like it. I find that I'm reaching a peak and that my reading will slow. I've been reading almost a book a day for a little over a month so we'll see what happens.

Poor thing that sounds so miserable for your daughter and you and your husband. I have horrible allergies and whenever they get really bad my asthma flares up something awful. Not being able to breathe and choking on snot are all things I know well. I hope the steroids are helping. Our stamps can wait. But you're right, good thing it's happening now when it's still early in the round. But even if it wasn't it'd still be okay. Family comes first.

Happy Reading!

Cover2Cover ladies, I have sent Barbara a PM to see if she is available to fill in. If not, there are two other members on the stand-by list. I will keep ya posted and hope to have a replacement player for you shortly.
Suzanne, I hope your daughter continues to improve. You and your family are in my thoughts as well.

Happy Reading!"
I will read Divergent

We will definitely keep things hidden. And I try really, really hard to never have any kind of spoilers in my reviews too. I hope you love Divergent like I did.
Sarah do you have Insurgent in actual book form? This thing is freaking massive. I wish I had it on my Kindle. I've only been reading for a little bit and my hand is not happy with me. lol

The Vampire Academy series is one of my favorites. I still haven't tried Percy Jackson, although I really want to.

I had mixed feelings about Divergent. My current favorite genre is dystopian/post-apocalyptic, which sometimes cross-over. This is a YA dystopian series.
I was not able to sleep well last night, so I read much of this book then, and finished this am. It was very fast-paced, which was good.
I had two big issues: Some of the teens were very mature (which was hard to understand, considering their limited exposure to life), and others (also including most adults) were very immature, and "Lord of the Flies" seemed to rule them.
I also had trouble with the factions. Since many of them seem to ignore their manifestos completely, they made me think of political parties, so it was no wonder they all fell apart.
But overall, I could ignore most of the issues and just read it for an enjoyable read, because she wrote well. Although some characters were one dimensional, others were fully set out. I especially liked Christina, who seemed like a normal teen, BFF and then taking advantage of Tris, etc. She was human.
Tris, of course, was the heroine, so I would expect her to excel and she did.
The version of the book I had gave a little quiz at the end so that you could see which faction was yours. I was completely divergent, except that I had NO abnegation traits.
And now I have started reading book 2, so obviously I like it...

Looks like I'm not the only one who couldn't sleep last night. I finished Insurgent last night. Couldn't put it down.

I loved Divergent. I thought it was a great addition to the growing dystopian genre and Insurgent is just as good, its only downfall is that it’s a little long. There’s a lot crammed into the 525 page book. So much that the author couldn’t take the time to really recap what happened in book one. I read the Divergent recap that Veronica Roth posted on her blog, but even with that it took me a few chapters to really remember who everyone was and where everyone stood. Once I got that out of the way, things started to really pick up.
So much happens in this book. The characters not only have to deal with what happened to them in Divergent, especially Tris and the decisions she had to make, but they also need to find their way in the world where the factions are close to being at war. It’s seemingly unsafe everywhere they turn.
I loved the conflict between Tris and Four/Tobias. It was deep and even when it looked like this new thing was the end of them; they came out of it stronger. But there wasn’t blind devotion on either side, which was a nice change of pace from normal YA relationships…or hell, most book relationships. And the reasons for the conflict weren’t stupid and trivial like they seem to be in most books.
A lot is revealed in this book, some of it I saw coming, some of it I figured out, but none of it was as shocking as the end. Even though I had a feeling that was going to be where the author went with the earlier hints in the book, I was still blown away. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I worry that this new revelation could ruin the greatness of the series, but the author hasn’t done me wrong yet, so I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume this won’t be a “jump the shark” moment for the books.

TEAM UPDATE: Barbara will be joining your team today. She is filling in for Ana Willow for the remainder of the game. She will not have to read for the first shelf or the free space b/c Ana has already done so. She will need to pick a book for our current shelf. Please welcome her and let me know if I can answer any questions.

But here goes anyway, I'm currently reading (well listening really) to

Thanks Steph for helping us get a new team member!

Welcome, welcome!

Of course, since I had the second book, I had to read it yesterday...I had planned to save it for another shelf but couldn't wait!

I'm not very good at waiting either. lol What did you think?

I loved that it picked right up where book 1 left off, but that is because I had just finished book 1. I was glad there wasn't a lot of recap, but that will probably drive me nuts in book 3. I liked it a lot, better than book 1. And I really want book 3 now!

Since you're a fast reader, Barbara, I think you'll do well juggling Bingo and the SRC. :)
Good luck! :D

Except for UK authors, who are up on amazon uk so long before us, it makes me crazy! our amazon won't even recognize the isbn of those books.
