Jane | 705 comments That is absolutely brilliant Karla.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Fantastic. All the best to your family.

message 2003: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Gosh, I've been glad we aren't competing with reading speeds lately. I've slowed right down in the last week with trying to get a new prescription of glasses. Not to mention I've pretty much been letting all these threads lapse.

Apparently, I've been almost blind in my right eye for two years. It's horrible!

message 2004: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Oh no! I hope you've worked out a new prescription!!

I've been reading at a medium pace... More than before the tower teams but not as fast as during the challenge!

And I've been lax about keeping up with everyone in this thread too!

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good morning dear ones.

Have you checked the news about a new team challenge?? *grins*

message 2006: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments !!!! I'll have to wait to check this tomorrow after I wake up as I'm too tired to go searching now ;)

Steven, almost figured out the newest prescription. It'll be almost a week till the new lens arrives and hopefully I don't need to update it again!

message 2007: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Have a nice evening Nicole.

I'm sure more news are on the way, but for now, here's the announcement of our Book Buffs’ Battleship Team Challenge

message 2008: by Barb (new)

Barb Yikes, Nicole, I hope they figure out a prescription that works for you soon! Vision issues scare me to death. I can't imagine not being able to read *shudders*

message 2009: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Agreed!

message 2010: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments It's awful and kinda terrifying but I'm trying to get used to the part where I'll still be able to read and soon it will be without pain again!

Thanks so much for the link, Sonia!

Barb Nicole wrote: "It's awful and kinda terrifying but I'm trying to get used to the part where I'll still be able to read and soon it will be without pain again!"

As one who's been dealing with glaucoma for several years, I know exactly what you mean, Nicole :/ Thank goodness "modern medicine" is able to do so much to help!

message 2012: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Quite so! The optom says to me that the first time I went in, my eyes would have been so strained that they couldn't get an accurate reading on what prescription I required o.O

Apparently, I've been needing glasses for two years and just didn't know it.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments I've signed up for the battleship challenge too Nicole although I'm a bit confused on the rules. Hope we're on the same team.

message 2014: by Barb (new)

Barb I'm passing on that, although it does sound like fun, once everyone understands the rules. While I have no problem reading a book a week, I *would have a problem reading a book from a particular genre in a week's time, unless it was a book I was planning to read already anyhow. And I rarely read most of the genres that are being used -- I don't do fantasy, paranormal, new adult, horror, etc. at all, and I only read some of the others occasionally, so I decided to skip this round. If the genres are different next time, I might think about joining then.

message 2015: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Actually, Barb, you would be perfect in this challenge because, as far as I can see the genres you read are very under represented. Once again, you would be an absolute god send to any team you were a part of.

Lisa, I'm glad to see you're joining! There were a lot of unfamiliar faces there. As far as I see it, we've all been confused by challenge rules before but always manage to muddle through. I imagine this will be just the same.

Barb Nicole wrote: "Actually, Barb, you would be perfect in this challenge because, as far as I can see the genres you read are very under represented. Once again, you would be an absolute god send to any team"

I didn't think of it that way, Nicole, but there's still the whole issue of having to read a specific genre in a particular time period. I'm going to watch the first round and see how it goes :D

message 2017: by Barb (new)

Barb *waving hello to anyone who's still here*

I finally remembered to check our team's progress, and we're *really close to finishing this :D We're at 1,287 books right now, and if I remember correctly, the goal was 1,320. That means we're only 33 books from finally reaching the target goal. Can we do it before the end of March?? That gives us a little more than three weeks ...

message 2018: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Sure we can, Barb!

message 2019: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I believe the goal was 1350, but that's not much more! Two extra weeks?

I'll try to remember to do a quick update soon :)

message 2020: by Karla (new)

Karla I'm still tagging books.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Hi Mangoites,

I'm still tagging too!

message 2022: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "I believe the goal was 1350, but that's not much more! Two extra weeks?"

Oh ok ... so we can hit that before Easter, right? :D

message 2023: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I hope so!!!

message 2024: by Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (last edited Mar 11, 2014 04:02PM) (new)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 775 comments HI all...I just recently quit tagging books so I need to go back& tag books that I didnt tag? I had not had any messages from everyone in some time so I thought everyone had quit....I really miss this group but I joined the Battleship game & it is very confusing right now as to what we are suppose to be doing but our captain is doing an awesome job in keeping her "pirate crew" together...lol let me know if I should do anything else...

message 2025: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments We are still tagging books to reach our goal! Everyone has definitely been quiet... But it looks like everyone has been reading like crazy!

message 2026: by Barb (new)

Barb Sallie(Shuga) wrote: "I all...I just recently quit tagging books so I need to go back& tag books that I didnt tag? I had not had any messages from everyone in some time so I thought everyone had quit"

We didn't stop tagging, we just stopped posting here LOL

message 2027: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments So....

Apparently, our team total is 1456. So we passed the goal of 1350 at some point! :D

message 2028: by [deleted user] (new)

Way to go us.

Are they going to do another Team Challenge?

message 2029: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Right now they're doing the Battleship game in lieu of a giant Team Challenge. I think they plan on some other games as well. Not sure though, you'd have to ask LK!

message 2030: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Not today though. Today is Mercy'd day. So, some of the addicted mods are out of commission.

message 2031: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I am *partially* kidding of course. We are around... just with one eye on goodreads while enjoying Night Frozen.

message 2032: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Definitely. I'll be "out of commission" today. I already have the audio downloaded onto my iPod and I'm going to be at B&N at 9 a.m. - when the store opens - for the hardback.

message 2033: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm at 26% and shamelessly reading it at work. *bliss*

message 2034: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Oh, you are B.A.D., Sonia! LOL!

message 2035: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I am!

And now that everybody finally left the room, I am back to my book.

*Sonia leaves for some Mercy bliss*

message 2036: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Meh, I'm reading Kate Daniels #6 at work this week. If I'm going to be at work, I might as well get paid to read, right? HAHAHAHAHA

message 2037: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments **gigglesnort**

message 2038: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments agreed

message 2039: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "So....

So I guess we can stop tagging books then, right? How on earth was my total from a few days ago off by so much?

I'm envious of those of you who are able to read at work! Rather ironic, don't you think, that the one who works IN A LIBRARY isn't allowed to read at work? There is no justice!!

message 2040: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Well, the links on the challenge hadn't been clicked (and thus updated) in a while... so a lot of people have read a lot more since then!

message 2041: by Barb (new)

Barb Ahhh, that explains it :) Thanks for letting us know we finally beat the game LOL

message 2042: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments hahahahaha

message 2043: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments I turn my back for a few days and suddenly it is active in here again. lol
And I then discover I have totally missed a Mercy book being released. So not good, and I have a couple of books I need to read first.

I think it is great we have finished but what are we doing about our November challenge? I think we are just missing title X and author U.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Hi everyone.

I'm in the Battleship challenge too and Sallie you are completely spot on - it is confusing. But my group is great too, Jane is in it as well and I think Karla is also on an opposing team.

Anyone finished X or U re November challenge?

message 2045: by Karla (new)

Karla I'm the captain of the Victorious Valkyries. I agree, it is a bit confusing. I like my group too. If we could read more than one book a week, I wouldn't have volunteered to be a captain.

message 2046: by Barb (new)

Barb I have a U title *and U author on tap to read later this month, but I doubt I'll get to the X anytime soon.

message 2047: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I think the only person I know who's in a battleships group with me is Sonia.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Glad you're playing too Nicole.

I "R" enough

*grins*
But we have Karen too :-)
We the Dresden and Kate fans need to stick together *giggles*

We also got some of the new members... Which is funny cause they get confuse with me saying thins !ike "don't forget to tag the books" but have that this-is-so-cool-lets-do-it feeling.

Don't forget

R is for Pirate!

Arrrrrrhh

message 2050: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Guys, help! Is anyone else reading Good Omens this month? I can't seem to find the Neil Gaiman BRs thread :(:(
