Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I was going through our books since a few days ago for new chunksters anyways :)

Also keeping tabs, making sure everyone is pushing hard this week to help us pass LJB! I'm still hoping we can do it!!!

message 1804: by Barb (new)

Barb I'm reading - and listening! - as fast as I can :)

message 1805: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments :) me too! I'm even sneaking it on my library's site while at work. Haha which is so bad.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Mod announcements released today!

"It looks like Moonstone will be making it to 1,350 BAPs any hour now. They are down to the last six or nine books, I believe. (I'm not quite positive.)

The results of our poll were that you wanted the rankings for the rest of the Teams to be as of the next Sunday Update, November 17th.

(One of the things we leaned in Round I is that once a winner is announced, interest wanes with regards to players posting, making it difficult to get an accurate count. That, and the upcoming holidays, will have us stopping on the 17th. We have no plans to close the "sister" group, so if you want to continue any Team Monthly Challenge there, go right ahead.)

Anywayz... since it will be an exciting race to see who places where, as Teams jockey for position, starting tomorrow we are reducing the amount of cupcakes Team Captain & Co-captains may redeem per day. So, if you have a lot, start posting them today! (Limit is still 12 per post, and 15 per day.) As of November 13, the limit will be five a day, until Sunday. "

message 1807: by Barb (last edited Nov 12, 2013 12:07PM) (new)

Barb Do we know what time on Sunday they'll do the update?

Blast it, I'm going to be gone ALL DAY Saturday, with no chance to read/listen to even a single page :( What lousy timing LOL

message 1808: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments That's okay though. You've pushed hard through this whole challenge. One day isn't going to make or break us! :)

message 1809: by Barb (last edited Nov 12, 2013 12:37PM) (new)

Barb Yeah, but still ... it's the principal of the thing LOL

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Barb wrote: "Yeah, but still ... it's the principal of the thing LOL"

Haha, well, I'll be helping our friend move out much of the day Saturday, so I won't have much that day either!

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I'm over at a sleep over for nano this weekend, though technically Sunday is Monday for me ;)

message 1812: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments :p how is Nano treating you?

I didn't even try this year. Maybe next year? I need more willpower to write every day and make some progress!

message 1813: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Between nano writing and working and reading this month, I have no social life, hah!

message 1814: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Wow, hasn't it gotten quiet here. I'm guessing everyone is busy reading their last books before sunday!

I just finished the Kate Daniels one, so there's another one to close that gap :)

message 1815: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I just finished that one too! So good!

message 1816: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments Okay I bite (haha), I have been looking at this series for a long time but not gotten around to it.

I have this minute ordered the first book from Amazon and reserved the next 3 in the library ( hopefully I can pick them up later today) so I know what I will be reading the next month and unfortunately it is not part of completing any of my challenges.

message 1817: by Steven (new)

Task #5 - Novella/Short Story

There are less than seventy-four hours until the last Sunday Update!

For Task #5, I will give you a different kind of mission. One that could create quite a quandary, but will bring a large reward: Five (5) BAPs!
◆ Reading novellas or short stories, spell out:
N.
B.
R.
C.

N.
I.
N.
J.
A.
• The twist is you may NOT apply a book larger than 160 pages, and thus they may NOT be “tagged” towards your TTRC.

• EXCEPTION: They may be in an anthology; this is the only way you may “tag” the completed book, if you do finish the whole book. However, you are NOT required to read the whole book if you use an anthology. Nevertheless, you must use the titles, etc., of the stories within the anthology to do the spelling.

• Short stories must be greater than 10 pages. (view spoiler)

• The same rules as prior Spell-It-Outs apply. (view spoiler)

• They may all be done by one Team Member, or all nine read by different Team Members, it matters not to me.

• Yes, if a short story or novella has been read/finished on November 1st or after, you may apply it.

• You have until Sunday, November 17th, 9:00 a.m. - or your time zone to finish/post Task #5.
Decisions, decisions.

WHATEVER will you do?!!

Until the next surprise.

Post finished task here.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Book Ninja, do Graphic Novels count? I've read a graphic novel of 152 pages (less than 160!) in November that would work for this if allowed!

message 1820: by NBRC Book Ninja (new)

NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments Hmmm... let me consult with the other Ninjas.

message 1821: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Thanks!

message 1822: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Also, while you're conferring, I was looking into short stories and was wondering if Poe's Pit and the Pendulum could count as N, as the main character is an unnamed Narrator? or is that stretching it? HEHE

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments As long as you finished the compilation in November, than anything from the book counts. :)

B - Barbara Roden, author of "Endless Night," from Vampires: The Recent Undead by various authors, read by Jane (11/8)
R - Roderick Usher, in "Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe, read by Steven (11/14)
C - Charlaine Harris, author of "Small Town Wedding" from The Sookie Stackhouse Companion , read by Steven (11/12)

N - Narrator, in "The Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allan Poe, read by Steven (11/14)
I - "The Ice Princess" by Elizabeth Hoyt, read by Lisa (11/7)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6400 comments I've read an I ... The Ice Princess by Elizabeth Hoyt.

45 pages in kindle edition. Read 6/7th November.

The Ice Princess

message 1836: by Jane (last edited Nov 14, 2013 12:34PM) (new)

Jane | 705 comments Thanks Lisa Kay but I have tried to check myself. I think this is right.

No matter Where you go is 55 minutes which should be 20 pages

Castle in the Desert is 52 minutes = 19 pages

The Belated Burial is only 20 minutes around 7 pages.

But we could use Endless Night by Barbare Roden instead which is 1 hour 6 minutes = 24 pages
