Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Whoa, it's been quiet on this thread this week...

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Well, we're all busy reading like banshees...

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments To all my fruity pals at Mango Tango:

message 1610: by Barb (new)

Barb LOL Awwwww! Wish I had a cute pic like that to send back to you :)

message 1611: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay for us. We are still in 4th place.

message 1612: by Barb (new)

Barb I just saw that too :) We're about 65 books behind the 3rd place team, but we can try to catch them, right?

message 1613: by [deleted user] (new)

Yea we can catch up to them. With all the reading that we are doing for read-like-a-banshee challenge, should help us.

message 1614: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments YES... I think we can catch up, if we all read like crazy :D

And if we keep reading books that count as chunksters/triple threats/cutthroats, I can turn those cupcakes we've built up in as well :)

message 1615: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5688 comments Mod
Well done guys! Don't count on catching up with us though - know we've got some Banshees in hiding!

message 1616: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Chunksters and triple threats?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments That's to do with completing the puzzles, Nicole. Chunksters and triple threats are books with large word counts and you can exchange the "cupcakes" we've earn't in the puzzles for extra book points for these.

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments So... What's the next challenge? ;)

message 1622: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Well, we don't have an official one for November, but we will probably do our own, just for fun!
Maybe another books by the numbers or the count to five thing!

message 1623: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments If you need some ideas I think my evil inner chip'n'dale can think of something... after recovering form the RaT, off course. The poor chipmunks are out of commission.

message 1629: by Barb (new)

Barb Just don't ask about the condition of my house or anything else after these past two weeks LOL

message 1630: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Haha, Barb, my house is pretty much readathon neglect level all the time. Unless Alex and Tara are gone for a few days. Then my cleaning finally passes their messy. X)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments *snooping :D*
Did she finally decided between guys?
I've read #15 and since last two I didn't like at all, I decided to finish with series.
But I could change my mind if Hannah finally decided. :P

Great job on the Read a Thon, Team Mango Tango!

message 1635: by Barb (new)

Barb ❀Tea❀ wrote: "*snooping :D*

Nope, not yet *sigh* In fact, there was a reference in the first few pages of a recent book to how much Hannah likes having two men (paraphrasing) "fight over her." Ummmm ... you're not in high school anymore! MAKE A CHOICE and get on with your life!!

Thanks :)

message 1637: by Karla (new)

Karla Steven (and/or the Mods) is Kayla back on our team? I know she has been reading a lot lately and has added four books to her Mango Tango shelf this month. She would like to come back, if she can.

message 1638: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Thanks Amanda!!!!

message 1639: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I think so, Karla. LK and the mods are doing some updates and changes, an Kayla's return was mentioned in the message I received.

:)

message 1640: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments It looks like she's definitely back. :)

With a few books for the mix!

I saw that she was included on your spreadsheet, but not on the Mods spreadsheet, so I was just wondering.

Karla Steven wrote: "It looks like she's definitely back. :)

That's great. I hope she keeps up her reading pace! We'll definitely move up to third place, if she does!

Thanks Ashley!

@ Karla: It will be great if Kayla can help us in our rush to the finish :)

message 1646: by Diane L (last edited Oct 21, 2013 08:25PM) (new)

Diane L I've finished two more books since the end of the readathon
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, 652 pages, 20 Oct
Letters from Skye, 290 pages, 21 Oct

I'd recommend this last to those who enjoyed The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Like Guernsey, Letters from Skye is epistolary. It centers around both World War I and World War II. Letters from the past between a published poet and a fan (WWI) are interleaved with letters from the present (WWII) as the poet's daughter tries to uncover her mother's past.

Welcome back Kayla.

message 1647: by Barb (new)

Barb Thanks Evana! I loved Guernsey, so I've added Letters to my list to look for at work on Wednesday :)

Barb A note to our Australian teammates: Please check in when you can and let us know whether or not you're safe. Those wildfires look not only massive but really nasty!
*sending up good thoughts for all Aussies affected*

Team Member Reassignments - For more information and Team Assignements go here.

◆ We have decided to close the sign-up thread to the Tower Teams Reading Challenge, except for replacement players who exactly fit our needs.

◆ We are going to fill the gaps from absent Team Members on the Teams from within our current Team Members.

◆ In order to do this, we will reassign the Team Members of Banana Mania and the Mods of Cadet Blue to various Teams. We have been working on this for quite awhile and have tried to be as equable as possible.

◆ In an effort to keep Banana Mania as together as possible, we are moving some of the Mods.
