D.G. | 1370 comments I read my first book, started my chance book and now I finished rolling. I didn't fall on any other Chance/Community Chest!

Question...I know we can read ahead so I have a question about The Mall and The Bank. For The Mall, it says I have to 'reach' this task to determine my newest purchase. Does this mean that I have to read all the books before that task before starting it? But even if I havne't read my Mall book, I can still read one for The Bank, right?

oh, wow... I didn't realise I've not been on GR pretty much most of the weekend! Been a bit sick and was out pretty must for most of it anyway, sorry, DG...

re: The Mall - read the books that were rolled prior to reaching The Mall. So you'd have to have read Zombie Street, Just Visiting, & Zombie Movie Studio before you'd actually 'reach' The Mall.

But yes, you can read The Bank but remember if you're reading more than one book, you'd have to finish all books prior to reading for another square.

Amy | 2241 comments I'm still unclear on the Bank square. It says that "you will have to read them all prior to moving to your next square." By next, I thought you meant a square after the Bank (like Happy Forest).

Does that mean that you can't read for the Bank and a prior square simultaneously? For example, listen to an audiobook for Quarantine while reading a book for the Bank.

Sorry, Amy, by "next" I meant prior to moving on to another square. However, if you've started reading for The Bank concurrently with another square, I'll leave that be for now :)

I'll amend the rules to be more clear, thanks!

I'm not too familiar with the series but if it's like any other series, he might be a main character but he may not always be part of the story... I guess that would also depend on which book of the series you're reading for this task.

If he is in the story (for whichever book in the series you're reading) for at least 50%, we'll accept him as main character :)

Ok. I didn't think I was confused, but now I am. I've read your change to the rules, and I'm still not clear.

I read my first two books, then one for the bank (my recovery task for the Fort). I know I won't go on to Paris and beyond. But by "moving on," do you mean I also can't read my mall, last supper, gore lane, lonely house, zombie, or Marleybone graveyard books either, until I decide I'm done with the Bank?

If that's the correct interpretation, what it sounds like is that I have to complete the bank "prior to reading from any other square." I think it might be the "moving on" phrase which confuses me, since to me it carries the connotation of moving forward.

Once I know, I'll be ok either way. I'll just have to rearrange the reading I'd planned. I'd thought of alternating zombie-game books with other books, which would count for the bank.

message 132: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
Sorry for the confusion, Susan. But yes, you are correct, you can't read for any other square until you've decided you have finished with The Bank.

message 133: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1224 comments Thanks Tien.
I'm reading Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs . I'll only know if he's in it for more than 50% when I'm finished. If he is, I'll count it and if not I'll read something else.

message 134: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1370 comments My interpretation was the same as Susan. I thought that only applied to books going forward. So I'm reading one book from "Just Visiting" and I'm reading another book that I was going to assign to "The Bank" because it's an ARC.

Does that mean that now that I'm in "The Bank", I cannot read concurrently with another square?

Sorry, DG. If you've started concurrently then that's fine but when you finished your 'Just Visiting' book, finish The Bank books first before starting another square.

D.G. | 1370 comments Does anybody know a good book with a door in the cover? I don't have any books with 'escape' in the title so I'm going with the door...but there aren't that many! So far, the only one I don't have many options either! All I found so far is The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer but there's a girl in front. Does it have to be ONLY the door?

I have this other one Without Reserve A Pride & Prejudice Variation by Abigail Reynolds but it's more of a gate...not sure if it counts.

I was thinking of reading The Dead Room (Darby McCormick #3) by Chris Mooney for that square. It is the 3rd book in the series but it can probably be read as a standalone if you aren't obsessive about reading in order.
