Camilla (cyqua) Great, thanks Dawn! :)

Katya I wonder if there are any teams about to go out yet?

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) I sure hope not

message 207: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) I saw that Dawn wrote that there was 1 team that could potentially win already if the right item was called tomorrow... But most teams are missing at least 2 weeks' items..

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) How is Cindy doing?

message 209: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) I haven't written her since she posted the last three books - I'll send her another mail tomorrow before the next item is called if we haven't heard anything :)

Technically, she only has 2 more items in each category left, so it might make sense to wait and see what's called before starting a new book, since both Katya and I will need at least another 2 items as well...

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) No problem, just checking to see where we are at

Well, she is technically behind...so if she read a book this week we should get it posted....so that she might not feel overwhelmed when the next item get's posted....???????

Sure, if she read a book that works for shoulder or emergency vehicle, then it would make sense to get it posted :) I just meant that we could technically still finish together if she read perfect books for the next 2 weeks :)

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Umm... DON'T stick a fork in me, because I had a brain tumor for breakfast
Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver by Lauren Oliver

Read: Jan 20-21
Rating: 3♥'s

Review:
What I was expecting:

See.. it looks sweet, and it's dystopian which is quickly becoming a favorite genre of mine... But this is what I got instead:

I was bored. I finished because it was a buddy read, and it's like a challenge that I feel I have to try and try to finish a book no matter what... and it had some scavenger hunt words which didn't influence me in any way. Ut uh, no way, not a chance.

I can see this book appealing to a large audience of YA lovers, especially with Romeo and Juliet overtones, but I just didn't end up falling in love with this book. At all. I don't think it was bad, and the premise is different, so I gave it 3♥'s. Sorry to all those who loved it, but I just wasn't swept up in the romance. It didn't touch my heart... it wanted to, just didn't quite make it in.

Items

Tail Location 2445//Page 185 "As I'm standing there, frozen, he gives a long, shuddering jerk, from the tip of his tail to his nose. Then he goes still."

Rain Location 620/Page 46 "Earlier in the day it rained, and the storm cooled everything off."

Necklace Location 4283/Page 329 "And on the ground, lying curled up against one wall, is a dull silver chain with a charm still attached to it: a ruby-encrusted dagger who blade has been worn down to a small nub. My father's charm. My mother's necklace."

Already found item, but called for the week
Emergency Vehicle Location 4625/Page 356 "A patrol car springs to life beside me, and the revolving lights illuminate everything starkly but only for a second, and the world around me pulses black, white, black, white, moving forward in bursts, in slow motion."

Alana, none of the items you claimed have been called. Is this supposed to be your Emergency Vehicle book?

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) I thought Rain was the most recent called item

This weeks item is Emergency Vehicle.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Well dang it... for some reason I thought rain was the item... I'm fix it, I'm pretty sure there was an emergency vehicle, I'll make a new post. *Le sigh*

You can just correct the original if you want, since you havent submitted for points yet.

Thanks!

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) OK, fixed. That leaves just Fruit left.

message 222: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) I know Alana, I thought, for some reason, that it was "rain" as well :(

message 223: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) OK, team!

This week's item is: Rainbow

Which is really not the best for us, but I guess we'll have to make it work :)

Happy reading!

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Crap in a hand basket... and I can't just skip a week, can I?

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Rainbow can kiss my tukus

Camilla (cyqua) Alana ~ The Book Pimp wrote: "Crap in a hand basket... and I can't just skip a week, can I?"

You can skip a week... Since Katya and I will need at least 2 weeks, you can just wait and hope for something better next week!

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Do I have to read something to be able to 'count' later weeks... isn't the new system set up where I have to?

message 228: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) Alana ~ The Book Pimp wrote: "Do I have to read something to be able to 'count' later weeks... isn't the new system set up where I have to?"

Hm.. I'm not sure... I think we should be able to claim "rainbow" with the new books that Katya, Cindy and I will read and your "old" post.
And since Cindy is still missing two books before she gets to Rainbow week, she can manage without that too...
So, unless I've completely misunderstood the rules, I think we should be ok...

message 229: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Camilla you are right.

Alana can skip reading, if she already has the point. But then that means no extra items. Which if you are close and you want to wait and see what next week brings that is fine. But if next weeks item in in the same catergory as one of the things you need you won't be able to claim it then either.

message 230: by Katya (last edited Jan 27, 2013 04:40AM) (new)

Katya it is a gamble Alana....you just have to hope that next week's item is not weather....

I am searching for rainbow book....

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) Well rain is all I have left, so I have to wait I guess

message 232: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) Hi team!

Unfortunately, it was another weather item this week: Snow!
Which is really not very good for us at all! :(

I'm sorry I've been so absent, one of my best friends is very ill and in the hospital, so I've been there most days and haven't had energy for much else...

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) crap in a hand basket. Well, I guess I won't be reading for this again this week. Apparently my luck not only ran out, but crashed and burned

Book: Exposure by Susan Andersen by Susan Andersen
Completed: 2.1.2013
Rating:
Review: The heroine, Emma lost both her brother and husband. She thought she'd found a friend that's like a father, but instead she'd learned that he had been secretly taping her and her 3yr old daughter, Gracie for years. She goes on the run to escape him, someone so obsessed with her that he was willing to kill to have her all to himself. Her car breaks down in the hero, Elvis's town. With his mother's past and his loss of a hand, he keeps to himself. Being the town sheriff and thinking she's hiding something; he keeps a watch on her. I enjoyed this book for the well done characters, the story, and the element of danger.

Items
Weather - Moonlight: "The meticulously kept town square was illuminated so brightly by the wash of stark white moonlight she could see a penny shining on the grass clear over by the sidewalk." pg 166
Clothing - Belt: "He pulled his handcuffs from his belt and approached Elvis." pg 105
Body Parts - Toe: "It lifted, bringing Bill up onto his toes." pg 27
Misc - Emergency Vehicle: "I thought you might like a ride in the police cruiser." pg 253

Katya Week 9 - Rainbow
5 Stars! Blood Hunt (Sentinel Wars, #5) by Shannon K. Butcher by Shannon K. Butcher

LOVED It! This is the continuation of a Great Series.

Where to start? So much happened in this book. It is centered on Logan, a leader among the Sanguiner who has spent most of his life running Project Lullaby with Tynan. (another Sanguiner)

Logan is in the process of helping one of these couples escape and encounters a savoir himself? Hope (how ironic is her name) She is a woman who has amnesia, works as a photographer, helps at a local shelter where she was taken in previously and is looking for people who have disappeared lately when she comes across Logan who is in the middle of a battle with a Synestryn (demon.)

His race is starving because there is not enough "strong" blood out there. Since his race are in alliance with Theronai (the warriors) and heal them and they share blood in exchange....it is pretty important to find new sources of strong blood. Theronai do not trust the Sanguiner and basically have kept them starving by not sharing blood unless they need healing.

Logan can't have her no matter how much he is attracted to her and knows she is destined for a man of strong blood. He can never have a mate because he feels a strong sense of responsibility to his people....he can't take this woman as his if she could save many down the road by pairing up with another man. But before that happens he has to help her fins her friend Rory, a girl at the shelter who has disappeared. And in doing so needs to spend time with her before he can get her back to Dabyr (stronghold) and safety.

Hope is a great character...strong, sassy and kind. I really like her and love the attraction between these two characters as it slowly grows over time. There is so much to this story that I can't even begin to describe here.

As for Hope and Logan...this author loves her angst! that is for sure...one of my favorite scenes between these two is The love scene in the barn was beautifully written, not just mechanical.

This was a great installment....the author took a story which was developing and gave it a great push. I wish this review could contain all the interesting things that went on. Ms Butcher answered many questions and created so many more! Love it!

Weather. - Rainbow: (Pg 53) "She didn't know how to interpret it, but it hardly mattered so long as she could keep staring at the movement of rainbows dancing around him."

Misc. - Fruit (Apple): (Pg 150) "Cain Recovered an apple from the discarded tray and wiped it on his sleeve."

I need sky.....ughhhhh
