Tony Laplume was born in 1980, spent a few years in Rhode Island, but started making his mark in the world when his family relocated to Maine, where he attended every year of his schooling, including college at the University of Maine in Orono (except for a year at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in English. In high school, he created the comic strip "Newsroom" for the Academic Advocate, which published it from 1998-1999. He wrote a regular opinion column for UMaine's Maine Campus from 2002-2003. He co-founded and worked on the Hemlock literary journal from 2003-2004. In 2007, he co-created the short-lived literary journal Dead Letter Quarterly with A.C. Hall and Derek Koch. Read the best of what's around, not just the specific genre you intend to write. You aren't just aiming at immediate success. Your chances for that elusive long-term success don't just hinge on finding a story that has mass appeal, but one that has a chance to rewrite all the rules. And you can't do that by following all the existing ones. Blaze your own trail. Be bold. (less)

Books in the pipeline…

…I don’t already have a tag for footnotes? I literally published whole books last year because of footnotes. I got really, really obsessed with them…

And that brings us to this year!

I’m about to publish a slew of additional books. One is the direct result of a few additional rejections I just found out about, so there will be a new collection entitled The RattlinBog, and I love that title story a

Tony Laplume Mercyhurst was a pretty great community to be a part of for a year. I can only wonder what it would've been like for three more. I've never experienced a school merger. Erie itself was pretty great, reminded me a lot of my native Maine. I'm always working on something! Hope post collegiate life has treated you well.

Majenta Hi, Tony! Thanks for contacting me. Congratulations on your books! I hope you're well and having a great week. I'm glad you spent a year in Erie, PA, how did you like it? How did you like Mercyhurst? I attended Villa Maria College and Gannon University (during their merger--was accepted at both, started at Villa, graduated from Gannon. Have you ever lived through a school or college/university merger?). Well, happy reading, writing, and everything else, and all the best for future projects! Have a good day. Blessings!

Best wishes from Majenta
