Stella Fosse writes paranormal and erotic fiction, as well as nonfiction, for women past midlife.

She is the author of the Blood Sisters Chronicles, a historical paranormal series about immortal women across the centuries. Its premise: Women become more powerful with age - especially after 500.

The Sword of Vivienne is Book One of the Blood Sisters Chronicles. Vampires of a Certain Age is Book Two, moving from medieval Yorkshire to modern Chicago. Each novel stands alone.

The Crone’s Journey

I was editing my novel, The Sword of Vivienne, when I toured the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art on a preview day. When I saw the sign for the first exhibit, “The History of Narrative Art: Heroes, Myths, the Sacred,” it hit me: I had just written a Heroine’s Journey. Not Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey, the one that inspired Lucas, but a whole new thing: a Crone’s Journey.
