Sarah Thompson is an Irish-Norwegian writer, currently residing in a small Dutch village in Drenthe, with her partner and three cats. She has always loved reading and books and has a master’s degree in comparative literature.

In possession of a vivid imagination, writing - whether it be poetry, memoir, crime fiction or fantasy - provides an outlet and a way to share her passion and use her powers for good, instead of using them to give herself nightmares.

When she’s not banging her head against the keyboard or getting distracted by ever-important details such as the different calls of owls, or what the definition of a city is, she can often be found in the woods, wherever there’s bathing water, or curled up on the sofa with a pile of books,

Dear readers,

I am so excited to officially announce my second poetry collection: Tender is the Light, which will be released on the 28th of February 2026.

The book is divided into the four seasons, starting with spring, and includes 63 poems and 31 colour photographs, to deepen and expand the work.

I was lucky to have my friend and fellow poet Alix Klingenberg (author of Quietly Wild and three oth

This was delicious. A proper novel. Internal, descriptive, reflective, taking its time. It felt vulnerable and real and layered.

It's funny--some lukewarm reviews mention Casey, the MC, being whiny or self-absorbed or unlikeable. Firstly, I don't agr

How to Get Away with Murder by Rebecca Philipson
"I was unfortunately constantly frustrated by this book instead of enthralled, and I found myself rolling my eyes far too much at how the lead investigator's (in)action is written, the same way one might yell at a detective on the TV that's missing wh" Read more of this review »

"Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

A really interesting, impressive debut. A great unique take on the detective genre, and I love a ‘book within a book’. And I will say that I didn’t see the final twist coming!

However, some of the writing is quite clu" Read more of this review »

It's a fun little series, and I love the historical references. The mysteries are satisfying, I suppose, but it all sort of blends together and I feel like there's something missing for me to get really into the stories. But it's entertaining, and

“There is no question for the deer
of whether they are meant to be here,
now,
wading through the water

They are inevitable.
Timeless.
Unrestrained.”
Sarah Thompson, Murmurations

“Whenever I think
this life, these choices, this path
is mine alone
My spiritual, karmic, generational inheritance
swells in me
telling me
there is no such thing as

Tabula Rasa”
Sarah Thompson, Murmurations

“And somewhere deep inside my childhood
is another childhood
that belongs to someone else.

I find this very difficult to accept.

That I do not own time.
Or place,
or even feeling.

That nothing is as malleable as memory.”
Sarah Thompson, Murmurations

“And still, after all this time,
The sun never says to the earth,
"You owe Me."

Look what happens with
A love like that,
It lights the Whole Sky.”
Hafiz

“Tea! That's all I needed! Good cup of tea! Super-heated infusion of free-radicals and tannin, just the thing for healing the synapses.”
Russell T. Davies

“Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe.”
Anatole France

“Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.”
John Lennon

“Do you know — I hardly remembered you?"
"Hardly remembered me?"
"I mean: how shall I explain? I — it's always so. Each time you happen to me all over again.”
Edith Wharton, The Age of Innocence
