Basuhi I don't like your recommendation, Khanh (I'm a teenager too :P). I've read fever and this book looks like an exact young-adult-ified version.
Well, we all know Barrons can't be replicated-there's one and only one such bastard.
Kiaran is also seemingly V'lane's cousin's sister's son twice removed, because he has but a shadow of V'lane's sexual glamour.
God, I always love your reviews because of your humor, may it be a 5 star book or a 1 star one.
Amazing review, need I say that ?

Thank you, Basuhi :)

I will edit my recommendation to be less derogatory towards teens with a higher than average level of intelligence :P

Jules (Never enough time to read) Great review and thanks for the warning about the cliffhanger -I'm really getting fed up of cliffhangers!!all they do lately is make me want to wait until a series has finished altogether.

Thank you! Cliffhangers usually do not bother me...but this one was really, really bad. As in...I have to wait HOW LONG to find out what happens in the next few minutes?

Jules (Never enough time to read) Definitely not for me anytime soon then! I hate when a book makes me feel like throwing it against a wall because it has just stopped rather than ended.

message 6: by Estelle (last edited Sep 30, 2013 03:21AM) (new)

Estelle I think I rather have the real Jericho Barrons and V'lane to myself then
*grabs and hugs them dearly*
Just downgraded this book from my "gimme-gimme-gimme" shelf to "kind-of-want" since I'm still drawn towards the story despite the obvious Fever parallels.

Great review as always!

I'd rather take Jericho, too.

...and you know my feeling towards him...

message 8: by Basuhi (new)

Basuhi Haha now it's better !
I don't know why it's always Barrons or JZB to me, never Jericho.

message 9: by Izzy (new)

Izzy of Unapologetic Reviews Since I didn't like the first book in the Fever series, so I'll skip this one.

❤Ninja Bunneh❤ Barrons is impossible to duplicate. Impossible.

O_O

Great review, Khanh! I think I'll pass on this one. I like my Fevers just the way they are.

Rashika (is tired) How about no? (to the book) I hate copy cats. Plus people should realize Barrons simply cannot be 'copied'.
Great Review Khanh! :)

message 13: by Natalia (new)

Natalia I wanted to wait and read your review after I finish reading this book, but I just couldn't resist the temptation. You did a great job pointing out all the similarities with the Fever series.

Glad you liked the review, Natalia, and I'm relieved I wasn't the only one who saw the parallels!

message 15: by Natalia (new)

Natalia All those similarities make me reluctant to finish the book, because nothing comes as a surprise or a revelation, now I'm not enjoying the read, but comparing and counting the "aha" moments. You were spot on about it being Faefever-lite.

message 16: by Kathylill (new)

Kathylill After reading the review I must say I am kind of intrigued. I miss the uncountable times I've spent with the Fever-books so much sometimes. Sigh

message 17: by Tandie (new)

Tandie Awww. Not what I was expecting. Great review, love the Snape whacking Ron & Harry GIF!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I know what so-called and self-proclaimed "assassin" you're talking about...

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies Crimson wrote: "I think I know what so-called and self-proclaimed "assassin" you're talking about..."

*chuckle* Does her name start with "Ce" and end in "laena?"

:3

message 20: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Great review! With my extreme hard-on for the Fever series maybe I shouldn't pick this up. If the library has it maybe I'll give it a go. But Fever-lite seems like such a let down. Kinda like fake-bacon *sigh*

message 21: by Experiment BL626 (new)

Experiment BL626 Faefever lite? Say it ain't so! I dislike the Fever series. *run away sobbing*

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies Experiment BL626 (Against GR Censorship) wrote: "Faefever lite? Say it ain't so! I dislike the Fever series. *run away sobbing*"

Lol! You might like this more, then. It's certainly less evocative of strong emotions like Faefever. The characters are certainly more generic and likeable, even if they're not as complex.

message 23: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Ha! Yeah, if you didn't care for the Faefever series, give this a shot! You never know...:)

message 24: by Tandie (new)

Tandie LOL Faefever lite = fake bacon! Dats funny :-)

message 25: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Ah, too new of a book for my library to have it yet. It'll go on my 'maybe' shelf for now. I do love the cover

Glad you found it helpful :)

Damn right.

message 28: by Rebecca (last edited Oct 01, 2013 06:43PM) (new)

Rebecca Huh. I'll pick this up eventually, but I'm a little annoyed it parallels Faefever so much (though I can definitely see why other books would try to be like that series lol), but at least it wasn't a bad book. Nice review, Khanh!

Well, to be fair, I'd have liked this a bit more if I hadn't read Faefever first. Thank you, Rebecca.

message 30: by Sharon (new)

Sharon L great review. I actually skimmed a little through the book today anf felt it was somewhat fever rip-off. needed to make sure I'm not the only one seeing the parallels.

well, I'll put it aside for now. fever is still too fresh in my mind.

great review, consider yoursrlf liked dearly :D

message 31: by Highwind (new)

Highwind I'm kind of glad to hear the local love interest isn't like Barrons because Barrons was the only part of Faefever I didn't care about. However, a stepeotype doesn't sound much better.

I once saw a GR list which put together YA books that seemed to be parallels of older adult novels. Mostly fantasy and SF. I wish I still had the link, this one would have been a nice addition.

message 32: by Melissa (new)

Melissa ohhh it's a parallel for the fever series o.o well thanks for pointing it out :) i won't read this book then because for me no book can ever replace this series or Jericho Barrons :P

message 34: by Danielle (Love at First Page) (last edited Dec 20, 2013 04:10PM) (new)

Danielle (Love at First Page) I'll probably skip this one. I thought it wouldn't be a true love triangle, but it sounds like something that would really annoy me.

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies danielle: imo it's not a really big of a love triangle (view spoiler) but if love triangles of any sort bothers you, then this won't make you happy at all.

message 36: by Mon (new)

Mon I am reading it right now, and I have been seen the Fever series in it; but in a washed-out way, too. It's sad.

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies Yep. It gets so repetitive :(

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey I cited your review on mine because I didn't read the Faefever books so I didn't know any about these parallels, hope you don't mind.

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies I don't mind at all, Deyse =)

message 40: by Imani (new)

Imani omg! D: I got this book at the library and it's sitting on my shelf but after reading about all the parallels b/w it and the Fever series (Which I read and loved) I couldn't possibly read this and enjoy it! how sad... but thanks 4 the heads up ;)

message 41: by Imani (new)

Imani I will definitely cite you in my non-review review as to why I won't ever read this. :(

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies Eek, well, it's not terrible, if you got it from the library, might as well give it a shot =)

message 43: by Imani (new)

Imani srsly? hmmm. now I'm on the fence lol. but then Mon said up there in these comments "have seen the Fever series in it; but in a washed-out way, too. It's sad." ick, a washed out Fever? that sounds horrible. and I mean c'mon...what's a washed out Fever with (as u put it) Jericho Barrons' more boring half-brother? LOL. if u give me a YA Fever, give me a Barrons at least! soo I don't see me and this book working out -__-

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies Same, but hey, it's a free library book. A quick skim won't hurt =) And I have read worse.

message 45: by Loli (new)

Loli Thank you for this review! I was finishing the Fever series when my mom bought me this book. I suspected they could be similar. Now that I've read your review, its reading won't disappoint me as much as it would had I read it without knowing.

message 47: by Brigid (new)

Brigid Good God. Even the blurb is similar to the Fever blurbs.

message 48: by K.K. (new)

K.K. NICE!!

Cupcakes & Machetes Somehow I missed the comparisons to the Faefever series until you blatantly pointed them out to me. Now I'm just extra mad that I wasted my time reading it lol.

It's also good to know that I am not the only cold-hearted one out there that just wanted her to shut up about her grief already.
