Complex book, somewhat sci-fi but definitely more noirish detective novel. Has quite possibly the most original take on a setting I've ever seen in a book. It was so original that I Wish I had had a group of people to talk with about it. The learning curve is a bit steep in the beginning because he throws you into this environment that is VERY different and you have very little clue as to what's going on until they bring in a character that also has no clue (basically a substitute for the reader

Definitely a book that will spark discussion. A very different concept of what the afterlife could be and what we could do in it. Very good, heart breaking at times, beautiful book. Obviously has fantastical elements to it being that the large majority of the book takes place in "heaven".

Famous book, quite possibly the greatest take on vampires I've ever read. Nothing like Dracula or Twilight, much more adventurous. One guy survives, everyone else is pretty much vampires. He makes due during the day and tries to solve the mystery of what happened and at night he hunkers down and hopes that they don't break in. This is an incredible book, with a CLASSIC ending that is not to be missed.

Great military sci-fi novel, written shortly after Vietnam. Uses the sci-fi elements to paint a very stark picture of war and how it can change the mentality of a soldier and how it affects their ability to come home. Very good book

First contact, sci-fi but with a much more open eyed wonderment feel to it. A ship is located entering into the solar system with a trajectory that will only keep it here for a long enough period of time for one ship to meet up with her and explore what they find. One of the foundation books for science fiction.
