I recently read a dramatized first-person narrative of Patrick Henry's life, told entirely in his own voice, from his early failures in business, through the Parsons' Cause trial, the Stamp Act protests, and up to "Give me liberty, or give me death!" It made the whole era feel immediate instead of distant history.
Now I'm hooked and looking for more books in that same style, either about other Founding Fathers, or Revolutionary-era figures in general, that use a first-person or narrative voice rather than a standard biography format. Bonus points if it captures the tension of choosing rebellion, the courtroom/legal battles of the time, or the philosophical arguments around liberty and rights. Any recommendations?...more
