Based on my reading history, I really enjoy historically grounded novels and immersive stories set in medieval and early modern Europe, especially those focusing on realistic depictions of everyday life, social dynamics, and political intrigue. I appreciate narratives that blend deep historical research with compelling characters and authentic world-building—no magic or fantasy required.
I’m particularly drawn to books similar in tone and style to Andrzej Sapkowski’s Hussite Trilogy and the detailed historical realism found in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Additionally, I enjoy stories about settlement, survival, and community development, reminiscent of the spirit found in the book Catan.
If you know any well-written novels or series set in Central Europe or its neighboring regions, especially from pre-Christian or medieval periods, please share your recommendations!
