Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse books are coming out as a Netflix series in April so maybe your grandchild would like to read something they can watch on TV after they've read it. To my understanding the TV show is mix of this book and Six of Crows which is set in the same universe.

This series has 5 books but the 3 first ones are the best and the two last ones can be left unread with no problems. I read these when I was about 14 and the best part is that these are super fast paced. They're a little stupid and shouldn't be taken too seriously but if you want to get someone into the habit of reading I think something like this would be great. I stayed up all night to finish everytime I read one of these books.
