For years I've read a lot of literary fiction. This past year though, I've felt pretty down. I can't ingest too much seriousness or sadness by way of reading material or I'll end up with my head in an oven. I need some levity. I can't ingest too much seriousness or sadness by way of reading material or I'll end up with my head in an oven. I need some levity. I need the levity to stop short of vapidity. I've been enjoying Fredrick Blackman, Curtis Sittenfeld and Gigi Levangie Grazer. Oh and Joshilyn Jackson. (Actually I've always enjoyed her.) I'd love to discover some more authors who will keep me engaged, but not downright depressed....more
