I like to read in order to learn something, or to enjoy a good story. If I get both in the same book I feel really lucky. Sometimes I read light fiction just for the sake of gratuitous entertainment, usually as a way of chilling out after a particularly heavy non-fiction, but even then I look for a decent writing style and stories which stack up. I'm not very much into deep phylosophical stuff, I think life is too short for that, and I believe that actions speak louder than words - in real life as well as in literature.
