David Grant has more than four decades of dedication to political and community affairs. After obtaining a Master of Fine Arts from the U of Iowa's WrDavid Grant has more than four decades of dedication to political and community affairs. After obtaining a Master of Fine Arts from the U of Iowa's Writer's Workshop he produced and directed programs for WFSU-TV public television. He was a founding member of a land cooperative and lived several years as a self-sufficient homesteader. He was a Peace Corps agroforester with upland aboriginals. He coordinated a downtown soup kitchen. He was executive director of Rural Southern Voice for Peace, specializing in "The Listening Project". He founded "Peace Troupe", engaging in nonviolent action through the cultural arts. For several years he was an educator and trainer for the International Fellowship of Reconciliation. Recently he was a director, and remains a senior advisor, of Nonviolent Peaceforce providing unarmed protection of civilians in conflict zones around the world
He is now President of Common Lot Productions. Common Lot Productions identifies opportunities to promote government 'by' -- as well as 'for' and 'of' -- the people. We produce events, publications and media to promote equitable civic engagement.
