This isn't a diary story but it is certainly an exciting read, well, the entire series (I'm assuming since I haven't read them all yet) I started with this book of the series and got hooked. I've read Dork Diaries myself and can say that if she loves that book, she will probably enjoy this one as well.
This book has greek mythology in it with a spin to it. It's not complicated to understand and is easy to read, in my opinion. I'm not sure about a ten year old but it's worth a shot.
