July is my big book classic month- I have been doing this for a few years now. I started early this year as I have special visitors coming this July. This is the only Dickens book my husband loved and I have never read it. Enjoying it so far.
I read it in high school and thought it was a form of torture, but years later, I started reading different works by Dickens and realizing I actually loved his writing. Then I watched a film version of TALE and was like, "Oh! That's what the story was about?!" I've always wanted to revisit it as an adult and I will look forward to your response.
Best of luck, Antoinette! I hope Paris, London and all the drama in between give you a memorable reading adventure.
This was not one we had to read for school, Julie. My husband did have to at his school. I fell in love with his writing after reading David Copperfield and Great Expectations for school. I do enjoy getting back into his books. It’s a slower read of course but I am enjoying it.
Antoinette wrote: "Thanks, Pia. I gather you have read it?"Yes, I have.😊 I felt it dragged a little in places, but by the end I had completely fallen in love with the characters. Sydney Carton's journey, in particular, was the heart of the novel for me. I hope you end up enjoying it just as much as I did!
