Before you take your life as you think you must do
listen to this letter I wrote for you
I know you spent your last days making your own
In a form of a goodbye
to your loved ones as to why you want to go
But it's your time to listen
What's one more minute before you make your decision
There are some things you need to know
Before you decide it's time to go
Think about the little girl or boy that's watching you wishing to be older
Wondering how you made it this far
I know what you're thinking
Remembering you as a child won't save you from sinking into the darkness
But think about all the fun places you’d be missing
and the boys or girls you’d miss kissing
Before you take your life think about your loved ones
And how they would miss you
Thinking that it's their fault
Think about your younger self having fun on a playground
Doing summersaults and cartwheels with your best friends
Before you take your life as you think you must do
And what about the old you, you could be wrinkled in grey with grandkids sitting on your lap
You’d be killing her or him before she or he even breathed or took a step
Think about the people that love you
I know, I know you are rolling your eyes
As to other people should not be the reason as to why you want to die
But think about how it's not the fact that you were loved
But loving others will maybe save you from within
Death will eventually lose its beauty if we do not live
And life has lost its beauty if we do not first love
I don't think you could save anyone
But you can certainly save yourself
People might forgive you but, in that situation,
Forgiveness will be a lot like an eraser
People will just be erasing things from their memory and forgetting why you did this
And all the pain it caused
And when the eraser is gone
They will get another one and another
Starting the endless cycle again
Think about your pain
the tears
the scars
the shame
Did you think your body buried would eliminate the pain
Don't you want it to be all clean before you turn and shut the door
Maybe give the air laughter
And give your corpse some smile lines and memories
I know you want a purpose in your pain
But did you ever think to wonder that your purpose is your pain?
That sadness is a gift
Not that you have an excuse to drown in your tears
But so that you may be an example of triumph for others
To let them know that they can get through this too
