How do you get inspired to write?

Cate Tayler Music. I generate a playlist of songs that evoke a certain emotion or mood, one I want to capture in my story. I've always been a sucker for a good ol' heart-wrenching love song, so music is a perfect inspiration for me to write my romances. Sometimes, a song will actually inspire a plot. Luke Bryan's "Goodbye Girl" inspired the backstory for the heroine in the manuscript I just completed.
