"America's Favorite Couple" focuses on Casey's journey to find love on a reality TV show. But she's not the only person on the show - there are plenty of other men and women who are also there to find love. (And a few who aren't there for that at all - it *is* a reality TV show, after all!) I thought it would be fun to explore some of the other people as they try to find love, so the next novel in the Reality TV Romance series focuses on Violet's journey.
I'm enjoying the opportunity to revisit some of the characters I really like from "America's Favorite Couple," and also to dive a little more into the behind-the-scenes of what the production of the show is actually like.
I intentionally wrote "America's Favorite Couple" in a style that's consistent with an actual reality TV show - the 'camera' doesn't show scenes that occur behind closed doors, and we don't get an inside look at the main characters' thoughts. It was a real "show, don't tell" challenge for me.
Violet's story is written differently. We'll get plenty of insight into what's going on inside her mind. I love exploring the inner workings of my characters, and I'm enjoying getting to know how her mind works. We'll also see "behind the scenes" into the production life of the show - and see a little more of how the producers manipulate and edit both the production and the characters to get the story they want.
If you're a reality TV fan - I think you'll like this next book. And if you think reality TV is totally fake - I think you'll get something from Violet's story, too! And if you just like a good romance novel, it's definitely still that. I'm really enjoying how it's shaping up, and I hope you'll like it as much as I do!
