Goodreads asked Renee Darcy:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Renee Darcy Hah. Well, I've made no surprise of the fact that I may watch a little more Reality TV than is good for me. I've watched more seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette than I want to admit (although I haven't seen them all!) I've also read some of the tell-all books written by former contestants, and I used to read Reality Steve's blog about the show.

The thing that fascinated me was how I (and most everybody else who watches these shows!) genuinely want the main character to find love, even though I *know* it's not nearly as 'real' as it claims to be. The real fans of the show WANT it to be a love story, even though we know on some level that it's made for TV, and all the producers really care about is getting ratings.

So I thought it would be fun to write about a reality TV show - and maybe offer a little peek under the covers, at the fact that it's not quite as real as we all want it to be - but where there was an *actual* love story. Something where the two weren't mutually exclusive. I was really happy with what came out of the idea!

Even better, though, it gave me an entire world to play around in. The other contestants on the show are just as worthy of finding love. Much like the Bachelor and Bachelorette 'recycle' the characters that the fans really like to get a built-in viewer base for the next series, I enjoy the idea of bringing the "America's Favorite Couple" contestants back for other books in the Reality TV Romance series. These are characters that I've become invested in - and I hope the readers will, too - and I want to see some of them get the happy endings they deserve, too!
