I live in the Twin Cities area, fortunately close to you. Do you have a schedule of public appearances where I could shake your hand and thank you in person for your wonderful work?

Lois McMaster Bujold I'm going to have a couple of things coming up in mid-March in honor of "Penric and the Shaman", at Dreamhaven and Uncle Hugo's respectively. I'll be putting the details up on my blog sometime in the next few days, when they are all firmed up.

I've also committed to Convergence, the July 4th-ish (6th - 9th) big con this summer.

We'll have to see about the hand; I'm slated for some surgery on it in late March. We might just have to wave at each other. (-:

Lois, I noticed in reading Chalion/Paladins that out of all modern fantasy 'greats', your writing in the medieval 'idiom' is the most authentic in terms of colloquialism / style of language / manner of speaking, syntax, turns of phrase. Many authors write very 'modern' medieval prose. How/where do you learn this authentic manner of accurate syntax/dialogue/prose? Reading a lot of historical fiction, or? Thanks!

Did Galen have Barrayaran-style prejudices against uterine replicators and homosexuality? Mark implies that he was exposed to slurs against both from Galen himself, and it seemed like Mark didn't just know about Barrayar's prejudices in an academic way, but really felt them. Was Galen putting on an act, or was he truly biased? If he was biased, was such bias common on Komarr?
