How do you deal with writer’s block?

Regine Abel Leave it alone and move on to something else for a bit. My mind will continue trying to overcome the hurdle in the background, especially while I sleep. In some other cases, doing a bit more research on the particular type of theme, scene or situation I'm struggling with provide some good source of inspiration. One of the biggest blocks I had was when I started writing book 2 of The Veredian Chronicles series. Eventually, I realized the problem wasn't so much what the scenes were supposed to be (the story is already fully outlined), it was more that I didn't fully relate to my characters and their goals and motives. Once those questions were answered, a lot of the other problems faded away.
